Azerik was in a particularly happy mood at the moment. It had been some time since he'd had any decent training, and the newest member of the 12th Division was about provide him a good opportunity.
He stood in a large relatively empty room that served as a training area for the 12th Division members who stayed cooped up inside the underground research facility. Azerik would have preferred to conduct his training in open air, but he was feeling too impatient to wait for the amount of time it would take to travel there.
"When is Genzen going to get here?" Azerik said with only a hint of irritation, "The kid may already have his Shikai, but training doesn't stop there."

"Kid," Genzen softly repeated to himself, his expression both solemn and thoughtful as he walked within earshot of Azerik. He was still surveying the hallway with his eyes, but his search was slower and calmer than it had been when he first entered the 12th Division. He had been a member for a little while, and was coming to terms with how small his intellect was compared to the vast amount of knowledge to be discovered and learned. He was fine with the idea that he couldn't know everything, it made him more humble. As far as the other Division members went, they could all come more down to earth, but seemed like truly interesting people on the most part. He was beginning to like it here.

"You have to admit you do look kinda young," Azerik said as Genzen came in and seemed to comment on Azerik's title for him, "and you are considerably younger than I am...50 years or so...anyway, no more stalling, I'm itching to fight."
As he finished speaking, Azerik would quickly unsheathed his sword, twirling it in his right hand, before lowering his grip, then placing his left hand on the hilt above his right. "I'll try to go easy on you," Azerik said with a smile, "but I'm really pumped right now."

"Hope so," was all Genzen said as he drew his sword slowly and took a stance. He hoped Azerik wouldn't use to much Kidou, as his grades weren't that good in the Academy and he hadn't had much time to improve since then. He smiled thoughtfully as he dashed at Azerik, and took a casual swing almost directly at Azerik's katana, planning for the blow to be blocked by his much more experienced friend.

"None of that now."
As Azerik spoke, he would push Genzen's sword to his opponent's right, and toward the ground, then quickly brought his sword up to slice through the first layer of Genzen's Shihakushou. He would then jump back, and stand there, holding his sword in the standard practice stance.
"I can go easy on you because I've been at this longer than you have, but you have no reason to be slacking off here. Come at me like you meant it!"

"Dude..." Genzen exclaimed, wearing a look of detached amusement as Azerik cut through his Shihakushou, slowly bring his sword back to a guarding position.
"Does the 12th Division pay for my clothes now?" He asked sarcastically as he lazily tossed off his kosode. "'Cuz I'm assuming I'll be needing a new uniform after this."
His expression became less light as he took an experimental swing in the air, admiring how the lights in the room made it glitter. He looked back at Azerik apologetically after a few seconds, saying, "Sorry, spars aren't really my thing." He leaped at his opponent, taking a random swing and landing carefully on his feet before continuing, "I don't like to think about swinging the sword. I just swing as hard as I can, not knowing where it's going to land. I trust my sword, is all I guess."

"Then I'll make it your thing," Azerik said as he backpedaled to avoid Genzen's randomly swung sword, "trusting your sword is good, you won't get anywhere if you can't, but your sword needs to be able to trust your judgment in battle."
Dashing at Genzen, Azerik stopped abruptly, stabbing his sword into the ground, and using it as a pole to launch himself up and over Genzen's head, leaving his sword stuck in the ground. As he landed behind Genzen, he would turn, right palm facing the 4th Seat as he spoke in a loud voice.
"Hadou #1: Shou!"

Though Genzen's speed did not amount to Azerik's, he had a few seconds while Azerik cast the Kidou to dodge. However, since he felt he wouldn't be able to dodge entirely with the amount of time given, he just stood there and let himself get hit in the chest with the spell. It tossed him back a few yards, Genzen making sure to vault over Azerik's sword as he passed it, then landing on one knee, one foot, and one hand.
"Kidou wasn't really my strong spot, either," he said nonchalantly, "I guess I hope that will change with time." He shrugged, his sword still at the ready. "I don't know, it's not like I don't care, I just... don't really like fighting. It's fun, I mean, when you can get a strike in, and block a hit well, I feel exhilarated. But I'm not fighting a bunch of idiots. You guys actually know your stuff, and I haven't exactly caught up yet. I guess that's why my Herutsuryoku isn't exactly fond of my style. He prefers to do his own thing, I just follow along."
Genzen was about to attack, but lowered his sword again. "Will you want to be picking up your sword, or should I just go ahead?"

Azerik smiled, as Genzen professed to being bad at Kidou. "I didn't even go to the Academy," Azerik said as he pulled his sword out of the ground, and held it in his right hand, "I had to try and teach myself Kidou...I ended up having the Captain beat the spells into my head."
Azerik stood still for a moment, before looking at Genzen's sword. "If you fee like things are getting out of hand, just release your Zanpaktou," Azerik said lightly, "it'll certainly even things out."
With that said, Azerik launched himself at Genzen again, bringing his sword up in one hand, to bring it back down, aiming for a shoulder hit.

Taking up his sword in both hands, Genzen held it sideways, blocking Azerik's attack with effort. He tried to force the other sword away, but knew his strength probably wasn't enough anyhow, so their blades remained locked.
"I'm not gonna release just yet, if you don't mind," he said calmly, "After I enter Shikai, I tend to go a bit... out of control." As he finished speaking, he vanished, then reappeared just a few feet behind Azerik, taking a careful swing that he hoped would be blocked. Even when fighting, it just wasn't his nature to wish pain on others, and he didn't even want to take a chance that might hurt Azerik. Though the odds of that were very unlikely, considering Azerik was his Lieutenant.

Azerik cursed under his breath as Genzen vanished, and instinctively turned around, swinging his sword in a wide arc, which parried Genzen's halfhearted swing. Seeing that the blow had been softened, Azerik grew angry, and the gray irises of his eyes flashed to gold, as the pupils became dilated to the point of being vertical slits. Roaring loudly, Azerik threw a punch at his subordinate, then swung at him full force with his sword, only to miss, as the blade passed by his left shoulder.
"I'd rather you go out of control." Azerik said as he straightened up from the slash, "You just let a golden opportunity fly by you. While my reflexes may be better than yours, I can't use Shunpo, for the same reason I had to learn Kidou from the Captain. Take this fight seriously, or it ends here. You don't have to worry about hurting me, we have the 4th Division to take care of wounds, they'd be out of a job if we didn't make use of them."
Taking a few steps back, Azerik settled into the standard Kendo stance-two hands on the hilt, blade in front-as he continued to speak.
"Release your Shikai." Azerik said in a very serious tone, "This is an order. Understand?"

Taking the punch straight to the chest, Genzen was knocked off of his feet and flew back a couple yards. Sliding to a halt on one knee and one foot, the 4th Seat stood up with his Zanpakuto still in two hands. After being commanded by Azerik to release, Genzen raised his eyes and said, "You may want to shut your eyes. Just a warning. Glare, Herutsuryoku."The young Shinigami and most of the room was bathed in a bright golden light as his sword, which was practically invisible now, changed shape. After several seconds the light was still present, though dimmed slightly, and Azerik would be able to see Genzen's silhouette walk out of the shimmering brightness towards the Lieutenant. Genzen would be seen with a much larger sword, Shunpoing towards Azerik and taking a swing at him, still saying nothing. Genzen's Stats (possibly incorrect, will doublecheck) Reiatsu 35+35=70 Attack 100+35=135 Speed 100+35=135 Weapon 35+35=70

Azerik covered his eyes with his arms, but the light still hurt his sensitive eyes. He smiled as Genzen strode forward with his new sword, and howled with jubilant laughter as the 4th Seat Shunpo'd toward him.
Azerik blocked the slash causing them to lock blades, pleased to see Genzen wasn't holding back, then shoved his opponent forward with one hand on his sword, and pointed his left palm at him as he was moved backward.
Hadou #63: Raikohou!"

Reacting as quickly as possible, Genzen held his sword in a defensive position and shouted, "Reiki Shirudo!" A half-sphere of golden light formed in front of Genzen, absorbing Azerik's entire Kidou and leaving Genzen unscathed.
Moments later, the sphere exploded outward with the same energy that had fueled the spell before, hitting Azerik head-on. Taking full advantage of the opening, Genzen pointed his sword at Azerik and shouted, "Hisou Kousen!" His sword glowed, the light forming into a solidified shaft which was fired at Azerik almost instantly, the same thing happening only seconds later. Genzen continued the move until he had fired off five of the light spears at his opponent, at which point he Shunpoed away and reappeared... in two different places. Both Genzens stood about ten feet away from Azerik, but in opposite directions of him, making things more confusing. One was Genzen, and one was an illusion, but Azerik would not know which was the real 4th Seat, or whether this was some cloning ability.

Azerik was taken by surprise as Genzen's shield threw his own Kidou's force back at him, and was knocked back. He rolled sideways as he hit the ground, and quickly got on all fours from that position. When he looked up from all this, he saw Genzen moving about, firing pillars of light from his sword. Azerik blocked the first one with the flat of his sword, shoving it away from him, then dodged the two of them, before knocking the last 3 away with his sword.
By the time he had done this, Genzen had somehow managed to create a clone of himself...no that wasn't right. Based on how all his attacks had been some form of photon distortion, it was only logical to assume that the second Genzen was an illusion caused bent light...but which one.
"Bakudou # 61: Rikujokoro!" Azerik would shout as he ran toward one Genzen. As he ran, 6 rods of light would appear in the air, and head toward the Genzen on Azerik's left, while he headed for the one on his right. If the one he had chosen was an illusion, the real Genzen would be caught in his binding spell, but if this one was the real one...
As he neared his chosen Genzen, he would leap forward, and come down at him with an overhead slash, shouting incoherently as he did so.

"Assai Kousen!" shouted the Genzen Azerik personally attacked. A pillar of light shot out of his sword, aiming to knock the Lieutenant out of the air. The other Genzen vanished as Azerik's Kidou spell folded around thin air, the real Genzen beginning an unrelenting attack with his column of light.
Trying to keep Azerik at a manageable distance, Genzen used his Assai Kousen to swat at Azerik, then Shunpo to a different location ten feet away from Azerik and continuing his assault. "This really what you want, man?" Genzen asked casually. "With my sword in this form, I have a perfect attack and a perfect defense. You'll have to get creative if you don't release yourself."

Azerik caught the pillar on his sword as it was still reaching its full length, pushing himself off to the side, and rolling away from it. As Genzen shunpo'd and attacked him from all angles, Azerik would barely block each attack, putting his sword between his body and the pillar of light, but the force behind the attacks was still enough to move him about rather violently. "Don't you worry about me," Azerik said as he jumped over one of Genzen's swings, "creativity is not something I lack."
As he finished speaking, Azerik would land on the pillar he had jumped over, struggling to keep his balance as he ran across it. As he ran he would point his left palm at Genzen and shouted "Hadou #31: Shakkahou!"

Quickly shutting off his Assai Kousen, he had little time to react as he tried to shield from the attack, his force field catching half of the spell and firing back at Azerik while the other half continued and hit Genzen in the chest, burning some of his robe and skin. He was flung back, hitting the wall behind him before he regained his footing and Shunpoed behind Azerik, shooting off the first of five Hisou Kousen spears from his sword. Azerik would notice as Genzen was Shunpoing and firing at him that Genzen seemed a bit less calm, slightly more irritated than he had been before. (Since all of his sword attacks missed and he got hit with your Kidou, how many Rage points does he get? Be fair, now. )

Azerik frantically tried to dodge the spears, but he was unable to avoid all of them. One clipped his left forearm, leaving a gash, and the other he managed to intercept with his sword, but it pushed him backward, knocking him off his feet. Azerik growled as he hit the ground, and quickly rolled to his feet, and held his sword forward, right hand on the hilt, and left hand on the flat of the blade. "Bare your fangs," Azerik growled out as he stood in that position, "Sumasshuyochi!"Azerik's reiatsu would seem to seethe out from his hands, enveloping his sword in the purple glow, and began to writhe and squirm, changing shape, expanding and widening. After a moment, the reiatsu faded back into Azerik's body, and his sword was revealed in its new form, a large broadsword, just slightly shorter than Azerik, and a few inches wider, making it adequate to hide himself behind in case of a barrage attack. "My impatience gets the better of me again..." Azerik muttered to himself as he waited for Genzen's reaction. Reiatsu: 130 + 35 = 165
Attack: 180 + 35 = 215
Speed: 140 + 35 = 175
Weapon Skill: 110 + 35 = 145

Genzen's eyes widened in surprise as Azerik released, feeling as if his only chance at not getting pummeled had just been crushed. He wasn't scared, he just knew that his fight had just become twice as hard, and he would need to use every weapon in his arsenal if he didn't want to be broken and bleeding by the end of this.
"Man, Azerik," said Genzen resignedly, "You sure don't wait to bring out the big guns..." Shunpoing behind his superior, but masking his move by creating an afterimage which proceeded to launch itself at Azerik, the real Genzen quickly concealed his own location by bending lightwaves around himself as he walked. Trying to sneak up on the Lieutenant, he slowly moved forward as his fake moved in to attack Azerik, but leapt backwards before delivering a blow. At that moment, the real Genzen created a column of light around his sword at tried to bring it down on Azerik's head, masking most of the pillar but allowing a small flash or so to escape before it was masked.
