"Tsukiko!" The young man yelled out again, not hearing any answer, he never even noticed Karzan's movements thanks to all the focus he was putting into moving the debris to find his friend. As he dug through the the rubble thoughts of past conversations began to surface back to the front of his mind, vivid as they were. He saw Zakura, standing near the himself and talking to him about his purpose for fighting.
"...Fighting for others....that reason has led to more tragedy than any hollow could ever muster." Zakura's voice rang out in his mind, a conversation the boy had with him long ago about his reasons for fighting. He continued to call out for Tsukiko, now blasting away at the remaining debris looking in every direction for her. "It is a reason that, from time to time, needs self sacrifice... sounds chivalrous at first but it can cause scars that will never go away, never fade and never leave your mind...." The voice continued. "Why am I thinking of this now? I have to focus on my job, my promises. I'm not here to fail! I can save her, damn it!" Clyde shook away the thoughts and conversations he was recalling as he finally came upon the girl, with Karzan standing above her, the boy stopped right in his tracks seeing the arrancar standing above her, his claws extended to her neck.
The human looked directly at Tsukiko and saw the tears, the fear deep in her eyes. It was a terrifying stare for the boy to see...and it was too familiar. The eyes of someone losing hope, someone who was helpless. He averted his eyes from hers, unable to stare at them for more then a moment...it hurt him to look. He narrowed his own eyes and instead focused on the demon that stood before him, Karzan. Every part of the boy wanted to stop this hollow, not thinking of the risks or the difference in their power. ...He wanted to save his friend. "Don't move, he'll kill her!" His inner voice shouted to him, but his body would not listen...it already knew the truth. This hollow Karzan would kill her regardless of what the boy did now. His mind may have thought otherwise, it may have still believed there was something he could do...but his body knew better. In a simple attempt the human charged at the hollow, gathering as much energy in his right fist as possible; one last futile attempt to save a life. He would aim the punch right for the hollows chest, yelling out at the top of his lungs, a clear sign of desperation.

I warned you boy...
As Clyde drew closer, Karzan pushed forward with his left hand, and his claws punctured the back of Tsukiko's neck, damaging the spine, but not severing it, then going through the very edges of her windpipe before coming out through the front of her neck. A slow and agonizing death awaited this human girl. "Try not to breath too much," Karzan said mockingly to her, "it will only make your death that much more painful and slow."
Pulling his clawed hand out of her throat, Karzan retracted the claws, then caught Clyde's fist with the same bloody hand, firing a Bala at the same time to counter his reiatsu. He then pulled Clyde closer, and grabbed his throat with his right hand, squeezing just enough the draw blood with his clawed fingers.
"Now you're going to tell me where Kuro Akuma is," Karzan said placing the index finger of his blood covered right hand on Clyde's forehead thus using his power to invading the boy's mind, "whether you want to or not."

Tsukiko heard Clyde call out for her many more times before he finally found her stopping in his tracks right at the sight. He looked directly at her but only for a moment or two before moving his eyes to the being standing behind her and she figured that he had just given up on her just as much as she had given up on herself. She was going to die whether Clyde attacked the Arrancar or not and that was just common sense especially since he had asked her how he would react if he killed her. She watched as Clyde charged at the Arrancar and she simple closed her eyes as she waited for Karzan to end her life. "Please take care of my family, Clyde-kun. My siblings need guidance and tell them I died peacefully." She was just gonna accept the death that was waiting for her because she had done her best in the little life that she had lived and did her best to protect her town and all the ones precious to her.
Tsukiko gasped at how horrible the pain was and how bad her throat was burning now. She couldn't react to anything now especially the words that the Arrancar had said to her mockingly about not breath to much but it wasn't like she could speak now anyway. She fell onto her back as soon as Karzan removed his claws and grabbed onto Clyde with the same hand he had used to end her life. She couldn't do anything now but watched with her blurry vision from the blood lose and tears. "Be careful, Clyde-kuu...." Her last breath wheezed in but never come back out and blank, dull expression fill her blue eyes while the tears ceased to fall from her eyes.

The fist was caught; the attack, ineffective. Clyde heard Tsukiko's words but could not answer them as Karzan stopped the humans attack...however, there was a silent agreement and promise for her last request, a promise the boy wanted to speak to her as a guarantee of his promise, but there was no time. Within moments her terrified eyes faded with her reiatsu, her body dead. "T-Tsukiko..." The human began to think just as Karzan placed his index finger onto the human, using a power to read the mind of the individual it touched. As it did it forced the human to freeze up as the hollow entered his mind. What he found was a torrent...a mess of information that was swirling like a hurricane within the human's mind. It was if nothing was were it should be, a book shelf knocked over and it's information spread across the floor...out of order and without cohesion. Honestly, it would look as if it was a miracle that this human was a functioning being let alone one that could fight. It did not seem to be brought on from his emotions, but simply the fractured nature of his mind. Chaotic was a good word for the nature of this place. It would be intense to look into his mind, even for the hollow. The mess and condition of the humans mind caused Karzan to get information that he did not desire, information that was too incomprehensible to understand at the moment, to him it would just sound like terrible, unwanted noise. It would take great effort, but he would eventually find the information he sought, near the edge of this storm of knowledge.

"Viz Co is it?" Karzan said releasing the boy and tossing him at the corpse of his dead companion, "you're such a fool Clyde. If you'd had the good sense not to fight me, all this could have been avoided. You've just kill one of your only friends Clyde my boy."
Walking over to him, he grabbed him by the hair, lifting him off the ground. "She'll probably become a Hollow you know," he said giving the boy a wicked grin, "and go after her family. She might even go after you. be careful you don't break the mask of any Hollow you come across, you might accidentally find out one of them is your good friend Tsukiko Kusakabe."
Karzan laughed loudly, then punched Clyde in the stomach, before dropping him and stepping back slightly.
"What's the matter? No more fight left?"

Clyde dropped to the ground besides Tsukiko's body after a strong punch to the gut from The hollow. He fell completely onto his stomach after the punch, first landing on his knees before finally toppling over, the punch alone probably broke a few of the humans ribs. Karzan's harsh words rang out to the human trying to put him down, and make him feel the guilt for his friends death.
The boy raised his eyes slightly to see his friends limp body, many thoughts racing through his head, he could not comprehend what he was feeling...it was probably sadness and remorse for his dead companion, but as the hollow saw for himself when he entered the human's mind, Clyde could not truly understand it. He was an incomplete being. He remained silent as the hollow laughed triumphantly and "scolded" the human, causing the hollow to mock his current stance...asking if he had no more fight left in him.
The human did not look up, did not move. He appeared to do nothing until the arrancarr stepped back. As he did a small light would appear on the floor next to where he stood and a spear would should out of the ground towards him in an act of defiance against the espada's words to him. Even after the attack the boy refused to say a word to the monster who mocked his actions, refused to acknowledge him, to give him anymore satisfaction.

Karzan stepped back quickly as the spear came out of the ground. He would clearly garner no more response than this.
"You've lost a friend and gained an enemy Clyde," Karzan said turning around and walking out of the school building through a damaged wall, "once you've sorted out what's in that head of yours, start training with that man Ryo again. You're a good fighter, don't let that talent go to waste."
Karzan walked away from the school building, which was now in an even worse state of disrepair. As he reached the road outside the school grounds, he would seal his powers, and sheath his Cazoleta at his left side, and headed off toward the Viz Co building.

It took the human some time before he could rise back to his feet. During this down time on the ground, he spent the entirety of it looking over his fallen friend. Zakura's words had never rung truer than this moment as he stared blankly at the limp body. Once he could finally get back onto his feet he looked around the destroyed room, until he came upon the girl's sword. He limped over to it, as another light wind bellowed forth into the holes made from the battle. Once the boy reached the weapon he picked it up with his right hand, turned, and dragged himself back to Tsukiko's body. He knelt down before her and positioned her hands to hold the blade within them...he did this instinctively, like how one would bury a warrior.
He then went to lift the girl up from the ground, struggling a bit from the pain. Once he finally stood up with her in his arms he would begin the long trek back to the manga shop in the dead of night. Every step he took however his mind began to wander and wander, flashing to another time. A time before he had lost his memories.
He was walking, just as he was now, with another in his arms...dead. He was walking across a vast space, no end in sight. The one he held in his arms was the last survivor besides himself...how was it that he out lasted all the others? He did not understand it then but he knew he had something very important to do wherever he was. He could not let the dead hold him back...but he would not disrespect them either. The one he carried would be buried, with the others, before he would continue on with his job. He owed the person that much. When he reached the makeshift graveyard he began to realize just how many were lost and how disheartening it was that he had to bury yet another. Once the grave was finished he would return to his never ending walk towards what he sought. If he could make it, do the impossible, accomplish his goal...then at least their deaths would mean something, and that is why he would not fail. He had direction...
The human would return to the present again as his past self went back to his journey. Whatever he was doing back then...he had purpose and direction, something Clyde now severely lacked. Tsukiko died because he was not strong enough, because the enemy he fought was merciless and he was not prepared. Karzan was a monster but even he understood that the boy's mind was a wreck...if the human wanted any hope of keeping Tsukiko's final request...he needed to grow, change. Until then, he was lost.
