Kyoshin tilted his head to the side as Karzan advanced, glad he was making the first move. His left hand shot above his head as he used the surface of the gauntlet protecting his forearm to hold off the Cero. He buckled slightly under the pressure, but even so tried and catch Karzan's kick and swing him into his own Cero, which was compressing against Kyoshin's gauntlet in an effort to prevail against him. Once Karzan was over his head he would be let go, unless Karzan had already broken free, and Kyoshin would let what remained of the Cero to crash down on him, doing some damage, but nothing visible.
"Careful, Karzan-san," he called, "Don't be taking me lightly, now!" He would dash at the Lord of the Deep head on, seeming to give little regard to his own defense as he tried to engage his mentor hand-to-hand.

Reiatsu: 200 + 65=265
Attack: 215 + 65=280
Speed: 190 + 65=255
Weapon Skill: 140 + 65=205 When Karzan saw Kyoshin blocking the Cero with his gauntlet, he fired the Cero from his other hand into the gauntlet from the side, which would knock the other Arrancar's arm and body sideways, preventing him from grabbing Karzan's foot as he had planned, allowing the Lord of the Deep to land on the ground relatively unharmed. "You should take your own advice," Karzan said as he settled into a crouched position, "your Hierro does not make you invincible."

Despite the situation he was in, Kyoshin grinned faintly under pressure as Karzan fired the second Cero at him. For only a moment after it hit, Kyoshin shot his own directly at Karzan, then used his now free hand to support his other arm being used to shield the rest of himself. Kyoshin's Cero would overtake the Lord of the Deep almost point blank as his feet were touching the ground, he having little time to anticipate or dodge it.
Meanwhile, Kyoshin was gritting his teeth in exertion as he fought against the combined power of two Cero, sliding a few feet away from Karzan in the process. Once the first Cero had been completely depleted Kyoshin would rotate his arm so that his forearm was holding off the second Cero, not his fist. This reduced some of the pressure on him, and once the Cero had finally depleted itself, Kyoshin would seem to have no injuries except for some blackening bone to his bone gloves, which did not affect their strength. In truth he had several burn wounds around his arms, shoulders, and neck, but these remained concealed by his cloak.
Resuming his previous plan, Kyoshin would spring into action, charging a Cero in his mouth as he dashed directly at Karzan, sprouting about ten vines from his back which spread out around him and positioned to attack.

Karzan saw the Cero coming, the blast seeming slower than it should have been. Taking a chance, he dodged to the right without using Sonido, and the blast clipped his left forearm and shoulder, burning the black armored skin, and cracking it slightly in several places. Grimacing at the slight twinge of pain, Karzan quickly recovered in time to see Kyoshin charging at him.
Using Sonido to backpedal away from his subordinate, Karzan fired a flurry of 20 or so of his Fang Bala at Kyoshin, severing the vines and doing any damage they could to Kyoshin himself. As the Bala flew, Karzan would let a howl escape his lips, which would paralyze Kyoshin, for exactly 5 seconds, just enough time for the traveling Bala to at least sever the vine like tentacles.

Karzan's howl would freeze Kyoshin while he was rather open, he and his tentacles freezing momentarily. The Bala would make contact with several of his vines, puncturing some of them in places while a few of the vines were completely cut through, shortening 3 of them by several feet. The fang Bala that made contact with Kyoshin's body would fail to scratch his skin, and would push him back a few feet in his paralysis.
When he could again move, Kyoshin would stand still for a moment or so, then calmly incant, "Umbrio Horizonte." The entire graveyard would go completely black, and Karzan would be unable to tell that Kyoshin had not scattered his Reiatsu as usual. It would be only seconds after the darkness had descended that Kyoshin would unleash his Cero upon Karzan, having glided closer to him silently. He was now only a few yards away, and as he fired the Cero he would force down his stronger Reiatsu on the Lord of the Deep, slowing his reflexes and speed even more in the dark.

As soon as the darkness began to form, Karzan used Sonido to move from his position, which caused the Cero to miss him, but the sound of the blast did not escape him. Letting out a howl again, Karzan would jump and spin in the air, sending the tips of the claws on his hands and feet whistling off into the darkness, one or two of them probably managing to hit Kyoshin.

Hearing Karzan's unearthly howl seemed to lock Kyoshin up momentarily, the flying claws cutting down one of his vines while the others simply bounced off Kyoshin's iron hide. He grinned to himself. He was getting stronger. Scattering his physical form, Kyoshin would force down his Reiatsu upon his opponent and create about thirty of his tentacles around Karzan, surrounding him so that Sonido would be pointless and his claws would be unable to cut through all of them in the dark. They would instantly constrict around the Lord of the Deep, forcing his arms to his side and his legs together, and nearly fifty thorns would sprout from the tentacles to skewer Karzan. The darkness would dissipate again, and Kyoshin would be standing a few yards away from Karzan, his eyes on the Lord of the Deep as he charged a Cero in his left hand. "I warned you, Master Karzan... My powers have grown since the last time we've fought."

Kyoshin may have more strength granted by his Resurrecion form and be just as fast, but Karzan was a master of reflexive movement, and he was already prepared for an attack, and the instant he heard his claw tips hit Kyoshin he was moving, using Sonido to move, hearing the subtle sound of the thorns materializing. Of course, being blind at the moment, he had no way of avoiding them completely, and 3 of the thorns managed to break through sections of the armored skin on his left arm, leaving sizable holes. He quickly cut them with the claws on his right hand. "But you're battle skills still need refining," Karzan said as he began to charge a Cero, "I think I'll have you fight Abel while unreleased...he's quite a challenge." Karzan quickly spun on the spot as he fired the Cero. Even if the attack didn't damage Kyoshin, it would keep him from materializing near Karzan too quickly. He scowled, letting the Cero pass through himself before condensing, then bringing the full force of his Reiatsu down upon Karzan while he charged his own Cero. He would then make a dismissive motion with his free hand, and without warning a mass of tentacles would shoot out of the Lord of the Deep's shadow and restrain him. In the same swift motion, Kyoshin would fire the Cero almost point-blank at Karzan, still using his Reiatsu to suppress his opponent, then darted forwards and stabbed into Karzan's chest with his right hand.

Karzan smiled as the tentacles came out of his shadow. Kyoshin was a self absorbed fool, and he needed to be put in his place. Even with his subordinate's Reiatsu suppressing him, Karzan was fast enough to fire enough Fang Bala to do away with half the tentacles before they could fully entangle him. As the rest wrapped around him, he made sure his hands were below his waist, with his fingers pointing upward. When all the tentacles were in position, and Kyoshin's Cero was moving, Karzan's claws would extend, slicing into the tentacles, and allowing his lower arms more freedom. He then quickly freed his legs, and used Sonido to move away from the Cero, the blast catching his right shoulder as he moved, cracking the armored skin in spots.
Growling at the pain, Karzan used his still extended claws to tear away the rest of the tentacles, then with the last few seconds afforded him, Karzan simply ducked low, Kyoshin's hand passing his face close enough to leave a cut. Karzan then used Sonido to ram into him, putting all his weight and strength into the movement.

Sent flying by Karzan's attack, Kyoshin shot out tentacles horizontally and grabbed onto nearby gravestones to stop himself, before lowering his head and spitting out some blood. Why, why couldn't he beat him, even when their powers were so close... He raised his eyes and met Karzan's, hate burning in his own. It was the nature of a Hollow, to let one's hate become power. He felt them again, the drive that had consumed him as a Hollow, the reason he had become a Vasto Lorde, it was to destroy Karzan. It was this loathing, this desire for revenge.... What he had hated about Karzan was that the Lord of the Deep couldn't be beaten. Even now, when Kyoshin was so close, he was still out of reach. Karzan would always be stronger...
"DAMNIT, KARZAN!" he roared, a mass of tentacles forming behind Karzan to restrain him as Kyoshin raised himself up again, and quickly drug his right hand across his chest. He would break his own skin, drawing blood onto his fingertips while his cloak hid the wound from Karzan, then began charging a Cero in the same hand.

Karzan allowed himself to be entangled by the tentacles, and despite not seeing the cut on his subordinates chest, he could see and smell the blood dripping from his hand. As the Cero began to charge, Karzan smiled calmly, and looked at Kyoshin with a laughing look. "Do it," the look said, "I dare you!"
Kyoshin had a multitude of powers, that even Karzan did not have. But Kyoshin had yet to embrace his new nature. He was no longer a mere Hollow, he need not depend on his hunger, and his rage. Karzan depended on nothing but power. His own power, the power of his master, the power of his subordinates, and the power of his enemies.
"Let it consume you," Karzan taunted as he waited, "the knowledge that I'll always be just out of your reach!"

Letting out an enraged roar as more and more tentacles continued to wrap around Karzan, Kyoshin howled out, "GRAN REY!" and unleashed his massive Cero at Karzan, pulverizing the graveyard around them and leaving a massive crater around Karzan.
Breathing heavily, Kyoshin could only wait as the massive cloud of dust and debris blocked out what little light was provided by the night sky. He had definitely felt rage at Karzan, but it was the Lord of the Deep who had egged him on, and it was probably to teach him some lesson about power in the end... He was still full of this fury, but did he truly hate Karzan?

As the dust began to settle, Karzan would start to laugh. Not a hysterical laugh, but a simple chuckle that went on a little too long. He would stand up from the center of the crater, all the debris falling off him as he did so. When the dust had settled enough to see the damage, even in the sparse moonlight, anyone could see the blood dripping from his arms and torso.Small sections of armored black skin was missing from his arms, and what was left was spider-webbed with cracks. There was also blood dripping down his face, a large smile showing on his face, his fangs glinting in the moonlight.
"Feeling any better?" Karzan said still smiling, "Or does anger still cloud your judgment like it does Virgil's? Or is it perhaps your hunger?"
Karzan would suddenly use Sonido, closing in on Kyoshin in one movement. Instead of making an attack he would stop in front of him, and place the index finger of his bloody right hand on his subordinates chest. As soon as he touched him, Kyoshin would be unable to move, and all his thoughts were now prey for Karzan's mind to feast on. Taking it all in, Karzan continued to smile, and then forced into Kyoshin's head, the memory of when he had slaughtered the 300 Adjucha class Hollow long ago, Kyoshin's former comrades among them. Lastly, Karzan would force Kyoshin to lift his right arm, and stab the clawed gauntlet into his own side. With all that done, Karzan would back off with another Sonido, moving up into the air, and raining fang Bala down at his subordinate.

When Karzan appeared directly in front of Kyoshin, rather than try to dodge he would launch tentacles from himself and from nearly shadows, swiftly binding the Lord of the Deep but not preventing what he would do next. As Karzan's finger touched Kyoshin's chest, he felt himself pulled inside his own mind, as if into a dream. He watched as his Lord laid waste to an entire horde of Hollows, hiding in the shadows as his pack was decimated. Through his haze of anger he realized that he had felt some admiration for his Lord then... It was not out of pure hate that he had grown to match Karzan's power. He had wanted to be on his level, he had hated Karzan because the Lord was stronger.
But all thought was forced from his mind again as he felt Karzan manipulating him, forcing him to stab himself in what Kyoshin esteemed to be a petty act of humiliation. He felt his own hand pierce into his side as Karzan released control over him, and clenched his teeth in pain and renewed hatred of Karzan as he withdrew his hand and made it a fist. Karzan would be unable to Sonido thanks to Kyoshin's tentacles, and would have no time to cut himself free while controlling Kyoshin. With his bloody armored fist he threw the strongest punch he could muster at the Lord of the Deep, and did the same with his other hand. As Karzan launched his assault of Fang Bala, Kyoshin would continue his punching, gritting his teeth as a felt the impact of each Bala. His Hierro made them feel like strong punches, bruising him painfully but almost glancing off. When would Karzan learn...
While Karzan was occupied firing his Bala at Kyoshin, he would be unable to do anything about the tentacles, and at Kyoshin's command, "LACERAR!" Karzan would be impaled from all sides by the thorns that sprouted from the tentacles. As he kept up his attack, Kyoshin would demand, "KARZAN!!! YOU BRING US TO YOUR LEVEL, THEN FORCE US DOWN! YOU MAKE US YOUR ENEMIES! YOU WOULD HAVE ME BE LIKE VIRGIL, AND SEEK TO SUPPLANT YOU! I RESPECTED YOUR POWER, I ADMIRED YOUR LACK OF FEAR! YOU'RE A FOOL, KARZAN, AND YOU'RE WEAK! YOU HAVE NO FEAR BECAUSE YOU'RE BLIND!!!"

Karzan continued to smile as Kyoshin assaulted him. By the time the thorns had pierced Karzan's body, both he and Kyoshin were covered in bruises. Blood seeped out Karzan's mouth as he continued to smile, and he leaned in to whisper in his subordinates ear.
"I see clearer than you do in your shadows," Karzan said as the blood oozed from his wounds, "and you are wrong...I have fear. I fear the potential for power in a mere Human, and I fear those who's power transcends my own. But more than that, I fear that I will someday reach the limit of my power. What I have will never be enough. There will always be someone with more."
As he finished speaking his claws would extend, breaking through the tentacles, the claw of the index finger touching Kyoshin's gauntlet-ed hand as it went in for another punch. It would stop there as Karzan exerted control again. He would force Kyoshin to retract the thorns, and take the tentacles off of him, and place them around himself. "This will make us even my friend," he whispered as the thorns would come out again, this time trying to pierce Kyoshin. In his free hand Karzan would charge and fire a Cero at Kyoshin, in case this little tactic should fail, and the blast would knock Kyoshin away from Karzan, breaking the contact of his index finger with Kyoshin's hand. With that done, Karzan collapsed backwards, laughing as he coughed up blood, and reverted to his normal form, his Cazoleta appearing in his bloody hand.

Kyoshin was trying to think straight, but that was difficult with his own thorns sticking into his chest. All he could really acknowledge was that he hated Karzan with all his heart. He howled out, less out of pain and more out of wrath, as the tentacles dissipated quickly. He had sustained less damage than Karzan, thus he felt he had won, but the victory had little meaning if it was not acknowledged. He felt cheated.
"You... You disgust me," he spat through clenched teeth, slumping against a tombstone and hanging on to his Resurreccion for as long as he could. He wanted to show Karzan, wanted to show him that he had outlasted his Lord. "You can't win by your own strength anymore... You're relying on cheap tricks like that, just to pretend that you're still better..."
His expression suddenly changed, however, as a sick smile spread across his face. They had both been injected with Kyoshin's Reiatsu Poison, but only Karzan would be able to feel its only effect, pain. He forced his Reiatsu down upon his defeated master, enough to keep Karzan almost pinned to the ground, and exponentially intensifying the venom's effects. Karzan would hardly be able to move as his mutilated body would be subjected to excruciating pain, the same pain he would feel whenever he felt Kyoshin's Reiatsu (to a lesser degree). "SAY I WON!" he commanded, not feeling satisfied yet. "ADMIT I DEFEATED YOU, THAT I SURPASSED YOU!!!"

Karzan screamed in pain at first but by the time Kyoshin started shouting, he was laughing like a madman, his laughter echoing around the ruined cemetery, like the howl of a wolf. "Are you a child?" he managed to get out through the laughter and pain, "Do you need my recognition so badly?"
After all the damage done to it and now the pain, Karzan's body was numb, and he continued to chuckle as he struggled to speak. "Does it feel like you won Kyoshin?" he asked in a hoarse whisper, "Yes you defeated me in battle, no great feat in and of itself...but you have not surpassed me...my 'cheap trick' lays your mind before me like a map. I can trace one thought to another, and tear out and add sections as I like. I can destroy your mind just by touching you...but that's not power...power is when you have all the strength needed to smite your enemies and allies, but you don't...but I ramble...you want to surpass me? Then keep fighting until you find the answer to this question: What do YOU want? Hmm? Kyoshin? What's your reason for being alive? And don't give me some tripe about wanting to put the Humans and Shinigami in their place! WE could go back to Hueco Mundo, and live like the wretched Hollow who continue to feast on each other...we could revert to how we were before the change...if we stayed there like good little Hollow, the Shinigami would never bother us and we'd devour each other until we became EXTINCT! A grand idea isn't?"

Kyoshin scowled. Of course he didn't feel like he'd won... Karzan had had been playing with his head, he had forced Kyoshin into this wrathful state, then made him feel like a fool. Part of him, the part that was still buzzing with rage, wanted to walk over and behead the Lord of the Deep while he laughed. Was he weak, to leave Karzan alive while he had this chance? If there was one thing he was sure of, it was that there was no honor among Hollows...
But he sealed his sword and slung it over his shoulder, rising unsteadily to his feet and looking down to the laughing, bloody form that was his Lord. "As if," Kyoshin responded. "I don't have a clue why I'm alive, oh Lord of the Deep. I became strong, I hunted you down, because I thought you could show me. I told myself later that I became an Arrancar so I could bring down the Shinigami, but that's a lie. Fighting an enemy, so I can protect the weak of my kind from them? Hollows don't protect."
He turned away, his rage now subsiding, but as it did it gave room to other feelings. No, it couldn't be a feeling, he couldn't have feelings... Nonetheless he felt it. He felt crushed. He had relied on Karzan. He had looked up at Karzan. Karzan was fearless, Karzan was proud. But now, he saw Karzan more for what he was. And he saw weakness.

He STILL didn't get it...it amazed Karzan how thick headed so much of his kind was. They failed to see what was in front of them, let alone realize something very simple about themselves.
"You aren't a Hollow Kyoshin!" he found the strength to shout as his subordinate wandered off, "Not anymore!"
After that, Karzan late still, staring up at the dark night sky, as clouds began to cover the moon. Even as utterly mangled as his body was at the moment, Karzan couldn't help but smile. To think he had inspired such a stupid being to become so powerful...it was almost comedic! Regardless, Karzan would make Kyoshin see...for the Arrancar to be recognized by the other factions, they first needed to recognize themselves for what they were...and they were not Hollow.
