"I hope so," was Kyoshin's response as he dodged the wave of Reiatsu with a Sonido, then used the technique again to pursue Clyde down to the next level of the mall. Appearing close to Clyde, he attempted to grab Clyde's arm and, lined up with the holes Clyde had been making, used his strength to hurl the human back though the holes and into the open sky again. Clyde would find himself thrown with such force that the air rushing against him would make recovery difficult. The Arrancar would sound step after him, appearing directly above the human (if the toss succeeded) and attempting to grab ahold of him again.
"The technique you just used is hardly effective anymore," he offered as if trying to be helpful. "Mind trying something else?"

Clyde gasped and stopped in place as Kyoshin appeared before him in a blink of the eye. The espada grabbed hold of his arm before the human could react properly and the next thing he knew he was soaring through the air with a force that was even stronger than Virgil's own physical strength. The wind whipping against his back felt like punches all on their own from the shear force, until he was unexpectedly caught midair by his shirts collar. The espada was playing with him now. Clyde stared into his enemies eyes, he couldn't read his opponents movements just now and it completely caught the human off guard. He stared into his eyes as Kyoshin spoke condescendingly to him, trying to figure the hollow out. For a moment the boy narrowed his eyes as he looked before suddenly opening them again as if he discovered something or figured something out. What he had seen caused his own eyes to glow again with his resolve to fight, perhaps what he saw scared him into fighting...or maybe it was something else. Whatever he saw, it got him to focus almost immediately. Reiatsu: 210 + 25 = 235 Attack: 205 + 25 = 230 Speed: 205 + 25 = 230 Weapon skill: 205 + 25 = 230

His right hand grabbed hold of the arm holding him with sudden increase in speed and finesse, perhaps taking his opponent off guard. "Hou-Renkinjitsu!" He yelled out the name of his power as the hand tightened around his enemies wrist, causing the reiatsu around it to disperse and begin ripping through the skin, blood shooting out of it in all directions. The boy then attempted to slide his hand across the arm, doing the same technique as far across it as he could. However even with such an attack, Kyoshins reiatsu would protect him...somewhat, just due to how much of it there was now.

Kyoshin was caught somewhat off guard by Clyde's sudden move, but he tried to play it off like he was letting the human attack him. His bone gauntlet would protect his forearms from the attack on the most part, but from his elbow to nearly his shoulder the technique would tear his skin and start some bleeding, before Kyoshin shot a few spikes out of his arm to stab Clyde's hand as it grasped him. He would use his other arm to deliver as strong a punch as he could muster to the human's chest, before using Sonido to put a small distance between himself and Clyde.
He couldn't help but wince slightly at the pain in his arm. He wasn't cut on a regular basis anymore, and the sensation of his flesh almost being torn apart brought what seemed to be more pain than a good, clean cut from a sword would. He maintained a confident grin under his mask as he spoke to the human, "You adapt well to your opponents, Clyde."
He held out his right hand and point his index at the sky, as if trying to draw attention to it. "But let me warn you... Don't. Get. Close. To Karzan." He would Sonido forward and touch Clyde's chest with his index, an instant later reusing the technique to return to his former location.
"All Karzan has to do," he said solemnly, "Is touch you, and he'll be able to access your mind. He can twist or steal your memories, control you, or make you destroy yourself right there. That is the extent of his power, human. If you want to protect this world, you must beat Karzan without touching him."

Clyde came crashing to the ground with incredible force from the punch Kyoshin had landed on his chest. The human would slide across the floor for quite a distance until he finally slammed his right hand against the ground and with a flash of his power stopped his movements across the ground. Almost instantly though he would collapse to the ground from the hit, gasping for air. He fought through the pain though, and quickly pushed himself back onto his feet as he couldn't afford to be taken off guard like before.
He examined his hand and saw the wound the reiatsu spike had made, blood flowed from the wound down his arm. To fix this problem temporarily he ripped off a small section of his sleeve and placed it on the wound, using his power to turn it into reiatsu and seal up the cut. This wouldn't heal him, but at least stop the blood flow for now.
He watched Kyoshin carefully, but again couldn't stop him from appearing next to him and placing his index finger to his chest. The human instinctively jumped backwards from the movement to distance himself from his enemy. "He's so fast, I can barely keep up with his movements anymore..." The boy thought to himself as he continued to catch his breath. "Don't let him touch me? I'll keep that in mind once I finish this battle." The human spoke out, clearly keeping his confidence as he reformed the sword in his hand once more. It seemed that even with Kyoshins speed and power, the boy was confident against him. "Aren't you supposed to be testing me? You seem pretty sure of yourself that I will be fighting Karzan. If that's true you must not think you're going to win this battle."

"Because I don't need to win, Clyde," Kyoshin replied. "My intention is not to cripple or destroy you, but to make you stronger. Perhaps you can guess why?"
He Sonido'd infront of Clyde and took a slash at him with his gauntlet, before throwing a stronger punch right at the human's chest. This wasn't over yet, and Clyde seemed far from giving up... "Umbrio Horizonte."
Without warning, Clyde would seem to have gone blind. There was no light to be seen anywhere, and Kyoshin was now gone, his form broken down into Reishi which permeated the entire dome. Any of Clyde's attacks would seem to pass through him, and suddenly a few punches from Kyoshin's disembodied hands would be thrown at the human in the dark.

"To make me stronger? Why? Why do it if I plan on ending this war with the power I get?" The human asked out towards the espada, somewhat confused by the logic. But he wouldn't lose his focus, Kyoshin wanted to push him to his limits? Than Clyde would have to exceed those limitations and defeat the espada right here. "He's stronger, faster...but he's still fighting the same. What I saw in those eyes...I know how he's fighting. His fighting style is the same, it's just a bit stronger now..." He thought quietly as he narrowed his eyes at the espada, waiting, focusing as hard as he could as he prepared his next to move. "Focus. Watch his movements carefully. Focus...Focus!" With that he heard the booming effect of Kyoshins Sonido.
His eyes snapped to where the espada had materialized, and moved just one step out of the range of Kyoshin's claw avoiding it expertly. He lifted his blade up to counter attack but than the espada landed a powerful punch at the weapon, pushing it against Clyde and sending him backward, rolling head over foot before he collided with a wall. He fell onto his knees and coughed up a bit of blood, but wiped it from his mouth and pushed himself back onto his feet.
It was then that his vision began to fade. "W-what?" The human muttered in surprise, he looked around in all directions but his vision had failed him, everything was pure darkness. Had he hit his head wrong on the landing? He wasn't sure. He took in a deep breath and kept himself calm as he took a careful step forward, holding his blade forward. Without any means to see his opponent, he was completely taken off guard by the incoming punches which all landed. He fell to one knee before launched a wave of reiatsu at where the punches came from.

The wave would pass through Kyoshin's particles harmlessly, the Reishi moving around the attack like dust in a breeze. Meanwhile, Kyoshin was strategizing how he would next attack the boy. He didn't exactly want Clyde understanding the nature of his technique, as Clyde might start using that against him, considering his capabilities. He also didn't want Clyde dead or near dead, at least not yet.
Playing it safe, Kyoshin made some tentacles pop up around Clyde and quickly enravel him, then started punching him again. The sound of each fist moving through the wind might be heard by the human, as the process would repeat until Kyoshin had tried to and nearly twenty blows before stopping.
"There will be no war if Karzan is gone," Kyoshin explained. "It was by his orders we came to this world, and by his orders we shall tear it apart. Unless you stop him."

(music)Clyde couldn't see the tendrils of darkness as they wrapped around him to try and hold him down. He was still adjusting to his lack of sight now and after be struck so many times he was completely off guard as they wrapped around him. The human knew his last attack had missed, and began to think. "He was punching me from the side...yet when I fired off my attack I didn't feel anything and the blast didn't hit anything..." He began to think as he struggled against the tendrils. "He didn't use Sonido...I would have heard it. So...has he managed to somehow become intangible? Does that mean he caused this blindness...of course!" Clyde realized that just before he had lost his sight that the espada had said some sort of term...Umbrio Horizonte. When he spoke those words he somehow had blinded the boy and made himself a part of the darkness. If Clyde could just figure out exactly how it worked he could possibly counter it. As he tried figuring it out another punch struck at his chest pushing him up against the wall that he could no longer see. With all of his might he pushed against the tendrils to move just in time to avoid another punch as it moved passed him he heard the current of air moving passed it. It was some of the only sound he COULD hear since his blindness. He lifted one of his legs at that moment and kicked towards the area where his chest should have been but hit nothing. As he landed he dispersed his weapon and grabbed onto the tentacles, destroying them as fast as he could getting punched again in the chest roughly five more times. Finally he freed himself just in time to hold his arms up, blocking another strike before it faded into the darkness. He waited, focusing himself one last time listening for the wind until it came almost directly upon him. Carefully, he raised his right palm to the punch causing the two to slam into each other, hurting his hand from the impact and forcing him to let go but that touch allowed him to notice something. Hopefully he could act on what he had noticed, otherwise he was a sitting duck. "It's starting to make sense, Kyoshin. What I saw in your eyes, the emotion your zanpakuto had given off, and why you're testing me." The human finally said as he waited once more. "Your actions had been contradicting your words. Why test me to succeed in defeating your leader, why give your enemy a chance at succeeding, even if Karzan had wished it? But now it all makes sense now, what you're feeling ..." He paused raising his right arm defensively, allowing his power to swirl around it in preparation. Finally, he spoke what he thought, "...is Envy." He then waited for the next attack, not elaborating further.

"Huh." Clyde would be unable to see, but might feel masses of Reiatsu in the distance condensing into what he could possibly recognize as Cero blasts. The Cero would condense and fire at Clyde one at a time, while a flurry of Bala would be fired at Clyde from seemingly all angles. Kyoshin's hands or face would flit into existence each time a Cero or Bala was charged, only remaining solid long enough to charge and fire the attack before reforming elsewhere. Kyoshin would keep this up until he'd fired over 5 Cero and nearly nearly a hundred Bala, then the attacks would all seem to cease as Kyoshin would respond.
"Envy, huh?" he asked Clyde, still sounding confident but with a curious edge to his voice. "I feel envious, do I? And what am I envious of, human?"
He was mildly interested in Clyde's observation, since he lacked a heart and couldn't recognize any feelings that might possess him. But as he spoke, he would form entirely several yards from Clyde and run his left hand across his bleeding arm. Then he would point his hand at Clyde and start charging one last Cero. It was unusually large and pulsed with sheer power, as if being held back from ripping the world apart. Clyde would doubtless sense the mass of Reiatsu despite his blindness, and might be able to triangulate its location, but Kyoshin wouldn't fire the Cero yet.

Clyde recognized the reiatsu forming close by, having seen and been attacked with countless cero before. The human focused directly on this reiatsu while also slamming his hand to the ground. When he felt the reiatsu getting closer his hand lifted up the floor at his feet high above it. The part he manipulated would be destroyed by the cero so the human leapt from further into the darkness, feeling bala raining down from the sky. Some passed him, some slammed into his back. He moved as far as he could but without being able to see clearly he crashed onto the floor of where ever he was in the building sliding across and barely getting his footing. Just as he raised himself another cero blasted against him and sending right into another which shot him up into the air.
The boy coughed up blood on his way upward and his body had open wounds all over it. But he would not give up as he continued flying through the air he held his hand in the direction of another group of bala and made a barrier of his reiatsu towards them. It worked for the most part but a forth cero quickly came and shattered his protection sending him back towards the ground, barely enough to keep him from harm. He hit what he assumed was the top floor of the mall, and feeling one more cero ducked to the ground with his whole body as it flew over him just barely missing.
The human lifted himself up, he was hurt, but was still willing and able to fight. His left arm looked to be too injured to be used but his right, the one he used for his power, was still relatively fine. Clyde knew if he remained on the defensive like this he was screwed, he needed to make his move. He had not done much against Kyoshin's cero but they did help the boy...they left a trail of reiatsu behind. When Kyoshin began charging what seemed like a much bigger one Clyde threw his hand to the floor once more, sending his energy directly towards where the energy was coming from.
The human caught his breath as Kyoshin asked his question but he did not answer. For some reason, it just made him smile somewhat. the reiatsu he sent towards the espada would lift up at that moment from all angles and attempt to surround the espada; and there was a reason for this. Clyde noticed that when Kyoshin was attacking that the solid part of his body was forming and dissipating from reishi, reiatsu. While it was hard to sense, when their hands came into contact with one another Hour renkenjitsu had reacted, it was how he knew. If Clyde could surround him with his power while he was like this he could potentially seriously harm the espada.

It seemed like Clyde had figured him out... Kyoshin smiled in his wispy, intangible form. The human was sharp, and part of the Arrancar was scared that Clyde would use this knowledge against him if they had a second encounter. If Clyde could manipulate Reiastu, then Kyoshin would be in rather serious trouble if he used this form again and the human was prepared...
Too bad for Clyde Kyoshin's Umbrio Horizonte had a time limit. The darkness would suddenly be gone, and Kyoshin would be standing where Clyde had cornered him, the Gran Rey still in his hand. "Nice try," he said, "But you need to figure your opponents out faster. Gran Rey."
The massive Cero would break through half of the trap Clyde had set for Kyoshin, and would travel towards the human with amazing speed. Not wanting to completely pulverize Clyde, Kyoshin purposely aimed the Cero low, so that it would blast apart almost the entire shopping district in that direction, but only hit Clyde's lower half if he failed to dodge.

Clyde eyes flinched at the incoming light (Despite it still be relatively dark out), causing his vision to be blurry for a few seconds. "What's happening? Why did he release his power?" Clyde readjusted his sight as he frantically looked forward Seeing the espada standing directly where he thought Kyoshin had been standing. Just from looking at him the human could tell he was solid again. ...His current attack would be useless against him now. "He canceled his ability before I could use it against him? Did he realize what I was trying to do...damn!" The human lifted his arm and took a step back to keep his balance.
It was hard for him to stand, he noticed, was it because of that cero? So much power was gathering around it, the human had never felt anything like it before. A cold sweat drop traveled down his bloodied forehead. His eyes returned to Kyoshins as he quickly discerned that the boy did not figure out his ability fast enough. Suddenly the cero would be fired and the human looked on as the energy took up his entire vision, the attack was colossus in size brightening the entire area.
Clyde jumped backwards as far as he could go, using his power to create the pair of wings he referred to as the "Soaring Bird," a single flap would send him backwards quite a distance but it hardly mattered. The explosions was so large the end of it consumed the boy anyway. He was spit out of the explosion after a second, his bodily limply crashing into a nearby rooftop sliding across it before he passed over it and landed on a second one until he finally came to a stop. The human had wounds all over his body, and was breathing heavily. He was not getting up quickly as he had from the other attacks, and was taking in as much air as he could.

"Hmph." Kyoshin watched as Clyde flew through the air, slightly disappointed the human hadn't improvised. He couldn't be blamed, though, even Shinigami Captains fear the Gran Rey Cero... He saw where Clyde landed and waited for the human to fire back, but nothing happened. "Don't tell me he's given up now..."
Kyoshin stepped to Clyde's location in an instant, looming over the wounded human as if still waiting for his opponent to rise again. "That can't be all you can take, Clyde... Are you really finished? Or do you get it now?"
He turned to the side and inspected his bone gauntlet, watching his own blood roll off of it. "You can't beat us where you are, Clyde, I want you to understand this. As long as you're this strong, you'll only be a target for Karzan, and humans will die around you."

Clyde's heavy breathing didn't stop him from moving his right arm to begin propping himself upward moving back onto his knee's. He looked over at the Espada and used his arm to create another energy weapon in the shape of a sword. "It doesn't...matter...who's stronger. If it's your job to protect innocent lives...if you have that burden, then whether the enemy is stronger than you or not..." He lifted himself from his knee's, wobbling as he did so. Through heavy breathing he continued, "You stand up...and you fight. Karzan could be considered a god in the hollow's world, I would still fight him as I am now. This is NOT a matter of strength for me, Kyoshin..."
"You asked me before what I meant by envious..." He lifted his eyes towards the espada, still no fear. He looked at Kyoshin like he was just another enemy he had to beat, another one he had to protect others from. He was not scared of Kyoshin, of what he could do to him. "I don't think you understood what I meant exactly so I'll explain...You're envious of us humans for being able to understand emotions and use the power behind them. ...You're envious of the shinigami for being able to hold onto their humanity even after their death. It was not one person or thing you were envious of, it's like your entire soul is comprised of this emotion, you're an envious creature by nature...But you're especially envious of Karzan, because he knows what you are when you don't." He grabbed hold of his weapon and moved into an offensive position.
"But it seems he's not the only one who understands what kind of person you are, Kyoshin. Even if I didn't know...I would still fight you regardless of our strength, I would fight you because that is the path I have chosen!" The boy lifted his blade up, but his motions were slower than before from the damage his body had taken, despite it all though he held no fear towards the espada and prepared his next attack. "Crescent...!" He began to yell out as he gathered up the reiatsu around his arm.

"Karzan doesn't know anything," Kyoshin growled as Clyde mentioned the Lord of the Deep. He was getting tired of this... He looked at the humans eyes as the latter spoke. They were still the same as before, confident and full of hope. No matter what Kyoshin did, he couldn't change those eyes, he couldn't stop Clyde from believing. Kyoshin wouldn't stop, though. He had to keep fighting. He had to crush that hope. Reiatsu:200+85+20= 305 Attack:200+85+20= 305 Speed:190+85+20= 295 Weapon Skill:140+80+20= 240
Kyoshin fired another Cero as the human charged his Crescent Slash, then he Sonido'd behind Clyde and punched the human hard. "So naive..." he said as he punched again. "Your willpower will not win battles, human!"

Clyde fired his crescent slash just as a Kyoshin fired his cero causing the two to collide, unfortunately in Kyoshins favor as the blast exploded and pushed the human backwards into the air quite a distance right before he flew into the first of the espada as he sonido'd behind Clyde. He gasped out a bit of blood from the hit, stopping him in his tracks. He tried to lift his blade but before he could react he was hit again, this punch had enough force to send him flying through the air once more, far above the destroyed district.
"So-Soaring Bird..." The human called out as a pair of wings of reiatsu appeared on his back opening wide to stop his ascent through the sky. Even with them though the force behind the punch kept him moving for some distance as he began entering the dark clouds of reiatsu Kyoshin had made to catch the boy's attention. The wings were cracked and damaged, and after a few moments shattered as they were unable to hold their shape causing Clyde to begin to fall downwards now as he had nothing to keep him in the air. As he fell, however, he still turned his body in an offensive posture preparing to attack. "Crescent Slash!" He yelled out as he shot it towards the espada, despite it being shown countless times that the attack was ineffective against him.

"Is this the power your emotions give you?" Kyoshin taunted, laughing as he dodged the Crescent Slash with Sonido and flew after Clyde. "Your heart's telling you to play hero, right? Telling you to protect this town? Telling you you can beat me? YOUR HEART IS LYING!"
Crashing into Clyde in midair, Kyoshin's tentacles would wrap around the human swiftly in an attempt to immobilize the human's arms and body. He would punch Clyde through the tentacles a few times, then as they began to descend, Kyoshin would Sonido strait down and slam into the destroyed earth with Clyde under him.
The tentacles would all disappear as Kyoshin got up, eying the human with disdain. "Do you still believe your heart? Will you really let it destroy you like this? Perhaps you're weaker than I thought."

The human could not react fast enough to stop the arrancar from using his shadow like appendages to hold him back and allow Kyoshin to lay into him with a series of punches. Before he could even follow what was happening the espada sonido'd straight into the ground still holding on to Clyde causing him to slam into the ground and create a small crater from the fall sending debris in all directions as the boy was thrown into it like a rag doll.
Clyde crashed into the ground, closing his eyes from the pain of the attack. As Kyoshin got up from his attack however to talk down to Clyde, the boy lifted his arm once again with the blade he had created still in his hand. He stabbed into the ground and used it to lift himself up until finally he stood up straight once again. He removed the blade and brought it up again obviously preparing himself to strike again. Breathing heavily, he opened his wincing eyes again revealing that he was not faltering.
Still gasping for air, the human clenched his right fist around his weapon and swung it at his opponent. The attack did not seem to be in desperation however futile it may be. It was like, even after the damage Kyoshin had done to the boy's body he could still hold on to his will. As if somehow, he knew he would survive the encounter.

Grabbing ahold of the sword as it came, Kyoshin repeated the move with which he'd first injured Clyde, pulling the weapon behind himself while lunging forward to stab Clyde in the chest with his hand. This time the stab was aimed more to the center of Clyde's chest, and meant to go much deeper. Kyoshin was done with the fight, and he wanted it over.
"You have potential, human," he began calmly, casting Clyde down and flicking the blood off of his hand. "If only that potential was not enslaved by your heart. But I don't mind. Your heart's will, and my will... have coincided."
As he finished, he snapped his fingers, black tentacles once again creeping out of Clyde's shadow and attempting to restrain him. About ten long thorns would instantly grow from the tentacles around Clyde as if to stab through his chest."Keep growing stronger, Clyde. Build your power, and we can bring down the Lord of the Deep together."

Post by Drystan Deverell on Apr 22, 2011 19:39:38 GMT -5
Not even half a mile from where these two were fighting stood an invisible man, watching the fight. He had arrived shortly after Clyde, and was watching, because both combatant were way beyond his power...but not beyond his mind. He was at an advantage here. His presence was undetectable, because his Reiatsu was of no consequence, it was weak compared to there's and hence it was easily ignored. An ignored enemy is an enemy in a position of power. Strategies could be devised. A strategy is exactly what Drystan had created as he watched the fight.
When the Arrancar began to get the advantage over Clyde, Drystan put his strategy into action. Using Alchemy, he created pillars of stone from the ground to move himself closer to them, but not close enough to be seen. As he got within 20 feet of them, he stopped, and hid in a nearby alley way. Placing his left hand on the ground, he looked carefully looked at his surroundings, taking in the structures, and seeing the Reiatsu and Reishi in everything. Then, just as the Arrancar would make to stab Clyde with his clawed hand, Drystan would release his power, and a flash of violet light would occur near the two fighters.
Suddenly five stone spikes would erupt from the roof beneath Clyde and the Arrancar. The first four would be small and aimed to cut through the tentacles binding the two together. The fifth would be larger, about the size of a large man's arm, and would rise right in between them, knocking the Arrancar's arm away from its target.
"You can't find what cannot be seen," Drystan murmured to himself. As soon as his actions were completed, he bent light around himself, rendering himself invisible again. Hopefully Clyde would be able to take advantage of this...if not...there was always plan B.
