Description:
One the surface Ryuu doesn't look that strong but in actuality it is quite the opposite. Though he has a small frame and doesn't look that muscular he has a lot of power behind his attacks. He stands about 5'8" and weighs about 180lbs which adds to the illusion that he's weak. His small, but athletic, build shows that he may be able to move fast but that would be about it. He normally wears his own version of the standard Shinigami uniform, instead of being loose and baggy it is more form fitting.The sleeves have been removed and instead of a white belt he replaced it with a red one. The top portion has been closed and around the neck a red trim has been added. He normally wears a pair of brown, half fingered, gloves when on a mission so that he can always keep a grip on his sword as well as anything he needs to while fighting. He also wears a turquoise head band that was given to him by his family before he left Rukongai for the Academy. Finally, he is normally seen wearing his Captains coat
His Zanpakutou is kept on his back to allow him to move quicker and not run the risk of getting the sword caught in his legs should something hit it. He also tends to carry around little items that he brought with him from Rukongai, a necklace to be exact. No one knows why he does but all these little things serve as a reminder of where he came from. He is not from one of the noble families and he has made sure that his appearance shows it as if to say, they aren't the only ones who can succeed.
Personality: Ryuu, despite his young and carefree appearance, is a very serious person. His personality has often been described as dark or brooding on occasion due to how serious he can be. He will very rarely, if ever, talk to anyone outside his Division. The only time he normally speaks to anyone out side his division is if he is speaking with a Captain of another Division or speaking to another patrol about events that have occurred during their watch. Aside from those two instances Ryuu keeps to himself and usually spends his free time studying.
Ryuu can also be very strict at times, even when it isn't required. He tends to have a hard time relaxing while not on duty or while on leave. He can always be found in his room doing paper work or training himself as he never feels strong enough due to his size. Ryuu is a very insecure person when it comes to his appearance. Even though he has proven time and time again that he is very strong he sees himself as weak due to his slender build and lack of muscle tone. Due to this he will get very angry at anyone who makes a remark about his strength, whether it's good or bad.
Family: He currently has no real family aside from those few Shinigami that he is close too.

History:
When Ryuu arrived in Rukongai he was lucky enough to end up in a nice area that was close to Seireitei. Ryuu also met up with a small group of people that soon became his new family and after a few months Ryuu had begun to adjust. His new life was beginning to help him open up but for some reason he couldn’t. Nothing he did changed how he acted or how he thought. After a many years though, people began to see that he wasn’t like others. He would often complain that he was hungry and because of this the elders of the area he was in were alerted.
When the elders were told of this they brought Ryuu into their meeting hall and began to ask him questions. When they were done with him they arrived at the conclusion that, if trained correctly, he could get into the Shinigami academy and possibly become a strong Shinigami. So Ryuu soon began training and because of his lack of knowledge of spirit energy they had a long way to go. After about another 20 years of training Ryuu applied and was accepted into the Shinigami academy. This acceptance would be the final step that Ryuu needed to finally find meaning to his existence.
When Ryuu entered the academy he was quickly accepted along with the other new students and began to make some new friends. Before he arrived however he was given a necklace that was made by one of the members of his new family which he began to wear at the academy. When asked about it he only said that it was given to him as a way to remember where he came from. The one thing he promised was that he wouldn’t forget those who took him in when he arrived and he swore to keep that promise. When classes started however Ryuu found that he was, in fact, very different.
His spiritual energy was pretty high compared to some and this helped him when it came time for the demon arts class. His high energy allowed him to perform the spells with ease. Eventually, Ryuu found the chants at the beginning to be too long winded and drawn out, so he began to train him self to be able to use them without the use of the chants. The next class that Ryuu excelled at was the combat training class. Due to his smaller frame and his speed he was able to beat even some of the larger opponents and prove that he was, in fact, a strong fighter.
Due to his abilities he had started to form rivalries within the academy and soon his one major weakness was discovered. One day after classes were over Ryuu was relaxing when another student, whom he had beaten, walked up and challenged him. Ryuu was about to ignore the challenge until the other student called him weak. This caused something inside Ryuu to bubble to the surface, something he had kept buried since the deaths of his parents. With that one word Ryuu attacked the student and beat him once again, however this event lead to Ryuu being punished and eventually caused him to completely close himself out from everyone.
Eventually Ryuu graduated from the acadamy and was placed into the 3rd Division. His skills were now well honed and soon after his placement he began to rise through the ranks, reaching 7th Seat within a few years. The one mission that would change his life for the better was the first time he truely used his Shikai. He released it with the phrase "Hannyuu sono yami!" which means Bring in the Darkness and with that his sword changed and he quickly finished off the hollows he was sent to take out. When he returned to Seireitei he was promoted to 5th seat and it was then that Ryuu began to train harder then he ever had before.
Many years have past since those days and Ryuu has now learned Bankai. That achivement, mixed with the lack of a 13th Division Captain, made him the perfect candidate for the job. Ryuu was moved to the 13th Division and given his new position, which he accepted without hesitation, and is now in control of the 13th Division of the Gotie 13. He still continues to train in hopes that one day he will be able to surpass the expections that others have set for him in order to prove his own strength.

Name: Yorukarite (Night Reaper)
Release Phrase: Hannyuu sono yami! Yorukarite! (Bring In The Darkness! Yorukarite!)
Description: Resembles a normal katana except the blade is black and silver. The handguard slightly resembles a skull and the hilt is a dark purple.
-Shikai: Yorukarite (Night Reaper)
When the release phrase is spoken Yorukarite takes on an almost evil appearance. The blade becomes a dark purple color and has serated edges spaced on both sides. The hand guard changes and a skull appeares, the skull also appeares on the bottom of the hilt.
-Bankai: Higure Yorukarite (Twilight Night Reaper)
When Ryuu activates his Bankai his Zanpakuto looses the appearance of a sword all together and in it's place appears a large, evil looking, dark purple Scythe. The blade of the scythe has serated edges on it, as did the initial release, but there are also many other sharp points on the scythe that can also be used to attack.
Also, when in Bankai the gloves that Ryuu wore initially take on a new form. The one downside to the Bankai is that Ryuu has yet to perfect it completely. Due to this there is a dark purple aura that appears around the gloves. When this aura runs out, the bankai disapates.
Spirit Description: Yorukarite
While other spirits may appear as animals or something of a non-human nature, Yorukarite appears as a younger male. The spirit apears to be the same age as Ryuu and has long black hair. He wears a long black coat that is closed by buckles that appear on the shoulders as well, making them look slightly pointed. He has a long sleeved black shirt that also has buckles going down the arms and black pants, which ar tucked into black boots that, again, have buckles on them.
