Description
Personality
Although Haita may first appear the unfriendly, distant type, he loves nothing more than to speak with others, to be a voice heard over the crowd. He tries his best to be social, to talk to people, but his quiet voice usually gets in the way, along with a general tendency of others to not notice him at all. He himself has never been able to fit into the crowd, something about him that not even he knew giving him a kind of social absence. He has never really figured out why, but he seems to go unnoticed quite a bit, his talent for walking through a crowded room unnoticed once a reputable asset and now a irritating drawback. It also often scares his friends, as his entrances go unseen, making it seem as though he just appeared from thin air. Going undetected for so long has made him think about how to regain his social status, but for the moment, his talents and intelligence are hidden behind a mask he can't remove.
That same mask is an ability that Haita holds in rather high regard, a superb talent for masking his own emotions. He never displays any intent, any emotion when he acts unless he wants to, sometimes even having to work towards getting his message across so he doesn't seem like he's just joking around. In contrast, many of his jokes are taken badly, simply because his neutral standpoint makes some think he is truly disrespecting them. Sometimes, the victims of his humor become so enflamed that not even Haita's great skill with words can calm them down, although those occurrences are very rare. Even though he is not socially adept, Haita's vocabulary skill itself is impressive, even confusing to some, simple minds incapable of understanding his sophisticated speech.
Guile is not the only skill that lays hidden behind his mask. His learning curve, for one, has astounded and even frightened some of his less expecting teachers, who often run out of things to teach him rather quickly. Because of this talent, Haita has become extremely intelligent when it comes to formulas, methods, statistical knowledge and the like, and is often told he would make an excellent medic, should he pursue his already impressive spiritual abilities. His memory may be a little off sometimes, but certain things simply jump into his mind here and there without much provocation, usually put under the razor of Haita's mind shortly after. Picking things apart is how he thinks, which gives him yet another advantage when it comes to applying this knowledge, as he can find new ways to use bits and pieces of old knowledge to discover even greater methods.
The way he learns, as well as his normally quiet disposition, have always been the true source of his distance from those around him, for deep within him lies a talent that stretches beyond the scope of normal ability. Haita is an Empath, a human being with the paranormal ability to sense the emotions of anyone around him, his brought about in a most conflicting way. Just by looking at someone, Haita involuntarily delves into their heart and adopts their feelings, be they good or bad. These feelings are intensified immensely when eye contact is made, which has left him out of both fear and respect for others' privacy to avoid it whenever possible. This often makes him come across as slightly odd, but it is a price he is willing to pay, as he often becomes physically ill if exposed to too much emotion. Even the small emotions he feels all the time from those around him drag him into the position of psychiatrist whenever he starts a conversation.
Haita's empathy has brought more than just isolation, as over the years he has developed a deep compassion for all those around him. His magnanimous and thoughtful disposition lets him really wish good will to others, to understand their problems and sympathize with them in order to relieve them of their stress. Although he goes unnoticed, his very presence often seems calming, as if he can fix anything if he wanted. Such a feeling is as unexplained as his Empathy, but connects to the attachments he makes with others. Haita has never been one for fleeting friendships and takes great value in getting close to others, as he has never been able to. When it comes down to giving, to caring, he never holds back and wishes only for the benefit of others, even to his own expense.

History
The endless streets, the crowded department buildings, the dark alleys, Karakura has always been Haita's home, although he never had really thought of it as that welcoming. Ever since he was born, the title of 'miracle child' has been stamped firmly upon his forehead, his father having thought himself sterol and in three years gone without his wife's pregnancy. In the tales his mother would tell him later in life, she had prayed for a child on the very night he was conceived, and his father had been struck with such a disbelief that he attempted to scrape the evidence from the test, a method proved futile in time. The autumn morning and a cool breeze gave a perfect setting to his birth, a time that neither of his parents would forget.
As much of a miracle as Haita's life had been, its events were sometimes sickening. His family was poor and his father's mind faltering from many years in prison. His mother was riddled with a depression from the problems between them and Haita was left as the only crying shoulder for all his family members. His two half brothers had long since left the household, striking his mother also with an empty nest syndrome that drove the both of them wild. Sending Haita to school must have been tough for her as well, Karakura high leaving the overanxious mother with even more worries, but Haita came through with decent grades. His social life was nonexistent, since he had long since removed himself from sociality, but he had everything. Intellect, energy, talent; he could do anything, and did so often, often the subject of many people's jealousy and admired beyond his peers in most areas. Often asked "is there anything you can't do?" He never seemed to find the answer.
There was more to him, though, than skill and intellect. There was an ability deeper than that inside him, something that didn't become clear to him until he first saw the ghost of a young girl in his bedroom. Not only could he sense her emotions, but he could see her, something he never expected to do. Although their meeting was short, it instilled in Haita the knowledge that he could see those who had passed from this world, as well as those who were trapped here. He trained himself and found that those were not the only abilities that he possessed. This time, however, the abilities were much more direct...

Name: Kagohana [Basket Flower]
Description: Kagohana, as its name implies, appears as a small basket flower, not even large enough to fit in the palm of the average man's hand. Usually hung from Haita's shirt, the flower maintains its appearance until Haita utters the command Sai [cut]. When the command is spoken, the small flower extends into a naginata, spanning around four and a half feet in length. This is often mistaken for a Zanpakutō release, as it functions in much the same manner.
Attacks
* Oshiikanro [Precious Nectar] - In its smaller form, Kagohana can draw on Haita's spirit energy to create a dimly glowing liquid cupped within its petals. This liquid is a natural disinfectant and, when exposed to an open tissue or muscle wound, can accelerate natural healing enough to stabilize a bleeding patient.
* Hanabuyou [Petal Dance] - In its extended form, Kagohana leaves a trail of spirit energy behind every swing, appearing in the form of glowing petal-shaped figures about the size of the average fingernail. These petals, often called the Seijun no Namida [Tears of Purity], are solidified portions of Haita's reiatsu, which literally melt the flesh of hollows that come in contact with them. This is insignificant, as they are so small, but burns on the mask can dispatch a hollow if they are numerous enough and the pain of melting flesh is more than a good distraction.
