Name: Tsuukai Li
Alias: The Youngest Cloud
Age: 104 (appears to be 14)
Gender: Female
Fraction: Shinigami
Rank: 7th Division Captain
Description:
Standing at an unimpressive 5 feet, 2 inches, it is almost impossible at first for anyone to believe she is a captain of the Gotei 13. The fact that she avoids wearing the typical captain’s black kimono does not help in the identification, and in combination with her young-teen appearance it would put doubts in anyone’s mind. Her unmistakable white hair matches her milky white eyes; even she does not know why her eyes took on that appearance. Her clothing is exactly as it is portrayed in the picture, and to her slight displeasure it shows more of her body than she’d like. Nevertheless, it is comfortable and that is really all that matters; to her at least.
Personality: Li is best described as modest and straightforward; when she is sad, she cries, when she’s happy a smile appears on her face. She doesn’t attempt to hide her emotions; she has learned it only causes internal pain. There are times when she knows she should hold her tongue and times when it is best to say her mind. Her favorite hobby is to watch the clouds and say out loud what they look like, regardless of who is listening. She labels it her solution to stress, and often recommends it to the other captains.
Family: Brother, last seen as a Hollow
Weapon: Zanpakuto
Stats
Reiatsu: 150
Attack: 150
Speed: 105
Weapon Skill: 70
Experience: 10(1)
History:
Tsuukai Li was raised in an ordinary human family, complete with two parents and an older brother. Li had been exceptionally close to her brother, often constantly hanging around him and never leaving his side. Unknown to her and her brother, they both possessed an unusually high reiatsu which grew as they themselves aged. When Li was 7 years old, their family was attacked by a rather large Hollow. The entire family was murdered, though only Li and her brother had remained as spirits tied to earth. They stayed together, though for some reason her brother’s chain disintegrated faster than hers did.
One fateful day, his chain had reached its end, and he transformed into a Hollow before Li’s eyes. She had completely frozen and horrified at the terrifying sight, unable to move throughout the entire process. In a few moments, he had completely transformed, and instinctively decided that Li would be a good snack. Luckily, a shinigami had appeared at the Hollow sighting and attacked her brother. In fear, the Hollow escaped, leaving Li before the unknown shinigami. Without a second thought, the sword had pierced through Kai Li’s ghostly form, and she was immediately transported to Soul Society.
For the next four years, she lived in isolation in the 76th district of South Rukongai, the Hollow-fication replaying over and over in her mind like a broken record. Her grief only added to the loneliness, which was almost unbearable after four years. One fateful day, a squad captain had come to view the living conditions of their district, and Li was more than curious to see the unusual company. As the captain and a few subordinates passed by Li, her unusually high reiatsu caught his attention. She had not bothered to conceal the energy, and the captain deemed her a possible future shinigami.
As a result, Li was taken in as a permanent resident of his home, where she was well-fed and taken good care of. As happy as she was, the treatment couldn’t completely wash away her troubled past. The captain had suggested one day to join the shinigami school, and instantly Li was reminded of the one who had attacked her brother. She realized that by becoming a shinigami, it was quite possible she could run into her brother once again and work on a way to save him.
Enrolling in the school, she immediately focused every waking moment on the shinigami arts, from swordsmanship to kido. Her work had shown, and she was quickly accepted as a possible future captain candidate. To Li’s dismay, the effort had not drowned out any of her sorrows, and she was as miserable as ever. It was during a practice Hollow training that she came to meet Shiraha, who took note of her abilities and mental state. The spirit only appeared in Li’s dreams, and was warmly welcomed. Li poured her heart and soul to this new guest, who quietly listened to every word. It was through this bond that they truly connected, and Li graduated from the school much more cheerful than she had enrolled.
She was put into the 9th squad, 6th seat below her own guardian. With Shiraha’s guidance, Li carefully worked her way to the top, until reaching the point where she had become vice-captain and requested a duel with her guardian and captain. He happily accepted, and after an entire day of fighting she and Shiraha had managed to completely tire out the captain. Because she was still able to move and technically fight, Li won the battle and assumed his position, much to the joy of her guardian. She now leads the 9th squad as their newest and youngest captain in history.
~~Weapon Info~~
Name: Shiraha (White Feather)
Description: A slightly odd-looking sword, Shiraha is about the length of a standard dagger, little more than a foot in length. What separates this from other zanpakuto is the number of blades attached to the hilt, as Shiraha has seven when the standard sword has one. These seven-inch blades all originate from the end of the normal-looking hilt, fanning out in separate directions horizontally to take on the appearance of a…well, fan. Also similar to a fan is the fact that these blades can fold up next to each other in a straight line, which it can then fit into Li’s oddly-shaped sheath.
- Shikai:
“Float to the skies, Shiraha.” Li’s zanpakuto reacts to this sentence, changing its appearance to the feathery version above. With a wide swing of the fan, small clouds gather in front of Li and take on a humanlike form. This cloud soldier is known as a Kumotenshi, and is her main form of attack in Shikai form.
- Bankai:
"Float to the skies, sing to the heavens, let the divine being hear your beautiful song...Gasshoutai Tenshiraha."
Shiraha must be in Shikai form to activate Bankai. Upon activation, the fan splits in half, the feathers originally connected to it fall to the floor. Once the feathers touch the ground, a small whirlwind takes place before Li, signaling the summoning of Shiraha's reiatsu. At this point Li steps into the whirlwind, as if to accept Shiraha's power as her own. The combination of reiatsu creates a small pillar of light at the spot, and once it fades Li emerges in her Bankai form.
Li's Bankai Appearance
Adorning a slightly altered version of Shiraha's robe, Li now holds Shiraha's fans to command both the Kumotenshi and the Kuukontenshi, who were originally controlled by only Shiraha. Li's most notable feature in this state, aside from her eyes that now radiate a bright blue color, are the wings on her back, one black and one white. These feathers represent every cloud about to take shape, and each time a Kumotenshi or Kuukontenshi is destroyed a white or black feather will fall to the ground, respectively. These wings allow limited flight and gliding abilities for Li, and if they are destroyed the Kumotenshi are destroyed as well.
Li's newly acquired fans, now referred to as Gasshoutai Tenshiraha, control all fifty cloud soldiers. Smoke permeates from the edges of the fans, one black smoke and the other white. Kuukontenshi and Kumotenshi are then molded from this smoke in angel-esque forms, much more detailed than in their Shikai state. By moving them through the air in complex patterns, the angels are led in this way, a slight twitch possibly commanding the angels to charge forward.
Spirit Description:
Shiraha is the true form of Li’s zanpakuto, and often doubles as Li’s advisor on important decisions. She and Li are unusually close; they talk to each other every night often after watching the clouds and before going to sleep. Always very stoic, she usually goes unfazed when presented a powerful threat. The only time her passive appearance is dropped is when she is alone talking to Li, even then her speech is uncomfortably formal.
Attacks:
Kumotenshi - The detail less humanoid figure created from clouds, measuring at precisely five feet tall in height, is commanded by Li’s movements with her Zanpakuto. This creation holds every property that a normal cloud has, including gathering moisture in the area, being charged by electricity, and expanding (possibly exploding) if exposed to high heat. The cloud cannot be physically destroyed, and it latches onto anything that physically touches it. Once making contact, the cloud’s temperature drops to as low as -50 degrees Celsius. As the cloud condenses tighter, the combination of constricting the target and freezing them at such close range should effectively immobilize them.
In Bankai state, the same properties remain, though the Kumotenshi becomes much more detailed appearance-wise. Wing-like designs sprout from their backs, and wisps of smoke form what resembles hair and a flowing gown. Their newly found 'eyes' are always closed, and when not attacking their hands are clasped together as if praying.
