History:
Born into the era of fuedal Japan, Fensake's attitude towards the world around him was molded more or less to fit it, and yet not fit it. for no matter who, he could nevr stand by and watch anyone suffer. His family had all died when he was young, during attacks by bandits, he had been spared only because their bodies fell atop him as they were slain. Only ten he began to work as his father had in the rice paddies, and the fields, assisting his village in it's recovery and rebuilding. Many villagers would think him brave, but truly he was more ghost for the next 5 years then he ever was as a plus soul. By the time he reached adult-hood of the modern era he had grown very strong and admired among the villagers, while no god to them, he was one who would never not stop to assist, would tend to those who needed wounds salved, and was never averse to lifting grain rolls from the backs of the weary and up onto his strong shoulders.
Born to a life of toil, he had found his place, found his solace in the loss of his family, and found his family had only been made smaller, and that those that remained cared for him as any other could. A man of courage, of valor, and sadly, of fool hardy bravery. He had left the town for some time, along with many other men of his own age, to go and fight for another Lords senseless wars and likely to die, and yet he did not, coming from the war nearly unscathed but for the memories of those he had lost. He had met along his path, just outside his own village, a set of bandits, kicking strongly into a lump upon the ground. Fensake had been mere moments from ignoring it until he heard the whimper from the lump as it noticed his approach. A man, under assault, Fensake armed with the blade gifted him by his survival of the bloody wars. Little could he have known he had not been so grand a swordsmen, as he had been a lucky one. He unsheathed the blade and would strike down one, then two, and then three bandits before the remaining party would gift him the eternal black sleep of death.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He had awoken, from what he could tell after several hours, to see a steady orange glow. Dazed from what he had though his death he dashed off, not ever realizing he left his body behind bleeding across the dirt path. He stormed into his village to find it just now beginning to smolder into ashes and charcoal, and to see a Man in heavy black robes surveying the scene as a small black winged butterfly fluttered off. Fensake roared at the man in his rage, diving forward to slash with a sword he had not realized he no longer wielded, and was smashed to the dirt and ashen street by the pommel of this black robed figures blade. A blade he would remember, for it's small size, it's strangely blunt tip, and it's reversed edge.
He awoke again, this time feeling as if he had been something small, something insignificantly weak, and yet elegant. the sign to his right, more a slash of paint across one tattered wall, the numbers 78. A small splash of faded and weather worn blood underneath them. He picked himself up, rubbing away the dirt and dust and glancing around him to survey his new surroundings. It seemed safe enough, a mite bit sketchy but many kept to themselves and gave only shifty weary glances to those around them. He would blend in with the crowd easily as he tucked in, scooping a worn, and burn-edged blanket from a sleeping man, passed out in his own drunken stupor, and wrapping it about himself.
In that time he would wander through the districts, for a span of 17 years picking up the straggling children and other spirits, who he came to know as pluses, and together they moved through the Rukongai districts, relying on each other to make ends meat for the whole of them. Fensake also came to know of the shinigami, and of the art of the soul burial as each spirit called it when they were sent here. His previous animosity when he had first tried to rip apart one of the black clothed figures on sight had been quickly stowed away to feel personal shame about after he had been so easily subdued by the Shinigami. for now he could respect them well enough. After all, without them he would never have come to this new realm, and perhaps he would have become something dark and terrible rather then whatever level of pure being he was at the moment.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
However, these years of content following could not forever last. As time went by many of his poeple began to find place among the vast districts to settle down. Taking groups of children along with them to keep them safe and give them a true home to flourish in, and so one day Fensake finally found himself alone, and again he came across a shinigami. He stood tall, yet not as well-built as Fensake. He would have passed off the initial feeling of familiarity if he had not noted in time the small blade tucked neatly into the front robes. Of the odd handle, so familiar as it had stamped him on the forehead and knocked him to the ground.
Fensake alone had not bothered to track the districts through which he traveled, he was well-armed with his small tanto, at least well enough at wielding it after 17 years of defending his followers to fend of the typical thugs, and thus hadn't been able to realize he had wandered into the 80th district of the Rukongai. So he appraoched with haste, to thank the shinigami for what he must have done for his villagers by sending them hear upon there deaths. He stopped abruptly as the man disappeared and the blade of cold steel pressed against his throat. Kubikiri tanto's, made to severe a dead enemies head a trophy, using a reversed edge on the curve. He began to raise his hands to show no hamr meant, but stoped as the blade slightly cut into his throat and the man dropped to his knees cin a fit of coughing.
Fensake turned and knelt, now seeing the dangers of the district around him as several men loomed from the shadows to come after this shinigami in his moment of weakness. Fensake assesed the situation, and patted the shinigami on the shoulder before sliding his hand around the dropped Kubikiri's hilt and unsheathing his own tanto blade. He would fight the three demons of Zaraki as they came at him and the wounded shinigami, who by now had begun to cough up blood as he collapsed, and leave all dead at his feet before re-sheathing his blade and picking the sheath from his shinigami's front and re-sheathing it as well.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By now the shinigami had lapsed into unconciousness so Fensake simply hefted him over both his shoulders before making for the quickest exit from the Zaraki and into more peaceful rukongai districts. Eventually he would find his way back, days later, and with the shinigami again back on his feet, walking among district one, and nearing the gate. For during his time with the shinigami, keeping him from hacking up a lung, and sharing small meals, he noticed the shinigami reducing the energy he coursed throughout himself to a minimum. It had intrigued the Shinigami that he could sense the reaitsu at all, but fensake did not seem to find it all that terribly odd, so when asked to continue escorting him, he had happily obliged, glad to have a traveling companion again.
When they reached the gate it, unsurprisingly, snapped shut and the gaurdian looked down upon them for explaination of whya simple man of rukongai would have appraoched it with the shinigami. The shinigami spoke in hushed tones with the large gaurdian, but apparently convinved him to open the gate despite the Rukon mans presence. Fensake's presence. the shinigami turned to Fensake and held a hand out as he stood underneath the gateway. He offered him the chance to likewise bring souls to the Rukongai, and to help those lost in their paths to find their way. the Shinigami academy, one where anyone with spiritual prowess was sent.
Fensake was not sure if he truly qualified, but felt to not at least let those who admitted him reaitsu weak, be the ones to let this shinigami know he had been wrong, would be somewhat rude. Oh what little Fensake could truly have known of the path that awaited.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
While not found to be of grand power, for a beginner of course, his ability to sense the energy cocked enough Academy admittance workers eyes to allow him a chance at becoming a shinigami. He, while not excelling at first, performed more then adequately compared to others brought for the much more mainstream reason of energy bursts. In a work of book knowledge he did excell as he seemed to have an extreme thirst for understanding of things he previously had not. In the realms of combat, while very tentative with his initial strikes, as he grew more accustomed he began to show general, if not above average grasp of the concept of Zanjutsu and Hakuda. And though admitted under a time where he did not experience the periods of energy blasts as many did, or of hunger caused by appearance of Reaitsu in the individual. He did seem very well versed in the concept of kidou, though more so again towards those of a less violently deadly nature. His aim, practiced and truly was second-to-none, allowing his some what less developed abilities to give all there punch to the desired location. Never missing his mark was his strong suite.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So upon the day of his graduation, showing he was not a man to want to illfully destroy, not one to sit and analyze data, to stand and guard, but to track enemies and work in a team based operative stance, he was placed where his binding skill and his will to not use lethal force unless completely neccesary were most suited. 2nd Division, hunting down the crimiinals of the seireitei. He served in this unit with distinction, performing with his fellows in coordinated and swift attack patterns that left no chance for an escape. His prowess during these times was unmatched by those of his like rank, and he began to climb the ladder to advancement, to a place where one day he might make a true difference.
His shikai was realized about half a century after his enrollment, now holding the 10th seat for reasons of lack-luster performance in detaining his foes. He had been speaking, or more so emoting with his blade for some time, but never had caught it's name in those emotions. He heard the voice now however. clling him to it. Fenikkusu Yuugao..Phoenix Gourd? Fensaky had taken a moment to undertsnand this and for that action his foe had found the time to pin him to a wall. For many a worthy task to complete, but Fensake's ideal point of combat was in close-range. Mistake number one for this criminal. Fensake kicked a leg out and swept it through his opponents as his team watched, then with a swift jump the opponent got away at range.
"What is wrong little Shinigami, can't you get me out here?" The man taunted.
Fensake held a hand to forestall the interference of his group, instead unsheathing his almost useless blade and hoding it, not by it's hilt, but by the blade itself. "Fenikkusu Yuugao, Drink."
His blade flashed, expanded, and in his hand rested a gourd, uncorked, and with the sake dripping from it. Fensake did not know how to work this blade yet, but his spirit was one with him. so he knew how to become the sake, and in that way to control it with his own spirit. The foe stared on confused, and by the time he had decided to run it was to late. Fensake's sake had lashed around one leg, and with an utterence of shakkahou the man was set aflame, engulfing, all-burning, purifying flames of the Phoenix Gourd.
It would be days later when the Onigami wars began, he fought and took the lives of any he fought, surviving through the cast aside care his rank and name were given. Suicide mission after suicide mission he survived. Knowledge of how is unknown, though it is know his massive injuries should have bled out any other man.
For 5 years Fensake spent any waking moment, not already being spent for mission or personal training, communicated with his blade. Practicing the use of the sake as both a weapon and simply a guard. Learning unique and new ways of setting his sake aflame for better use in battle against either a worthy, or merely bothersome foe. His work paid of slowly, he could hear it better, could wield it more easily, could fight on par with it in his hand, as well as without. For as each training day started he found he could see his performance increase with every blow, gaining power not only from the abilities, but from the dedicated work he put into his task every day.
It was 5 long years, routine after routine connecting him and his blade together, until it had finally mastered it’s physical form. He called it forth from it’s slumber, and as per it’s rules chased it. For as a bird they could not simply fight as one might another humanoid. Fensake was tasked to chase his bird until it was caught. No easy feat when it could know what you were going to do based on the soul-deep connection that was shared. He dashed across the Seireitei, using shunpo every so often, but for the most part dashing on foot. Several squadmates took notice and likewise gave chase. And at this an Idea formed in his head.
His spirit had never set a rule against asking for help, he nodded and his squadmates took the unspoken signal. Barriers erected in moments upon the utterance of the kidou and the bird flared it’s wings to halt itself. Fensake tackled it to the ground landing in a roll to protect his spirit from being crushed. His bankai was all his to be had…unfortunately within the Seireitei’s walls that having was disallowed to any and all who might hold such an ability unless in a time of war.
For ten years he trained, unable to wield his bankai, but always in communication with his zanpakutou spirit
Name: Fenikkusu Yuugao
Description:
-Sealed: The sealed form of his zanpakutou is that of a short Kubikiri Tanto, a symbol worn by assistants to remove the head of slain enemies as a trophy, or also speculatiely beleived to be worn by doctors or high-ranking officials. the edge of the blade is on the backwards curve instead of one the forward edge. There is no point at the end of the blade and it is simply rounded off meaning it cannot stab. the gaurd is a simple square with what are easily described as scalpel blades on each side. these are actually able to br broken away from the guard, and will be replaced when the user reverts from any released state.
-Shikai: The shikai of his blade is actually quite comical. It will grow wider at both ends before burning with undamaging reaitsu fire that will leave in the users hand a gourd measuring a foot tall. The bottom of the gourd is about a half-foot in daimeter at it's widest point, the top is only at 4 diameters. It has a chain that resmbles a series of fetahers overlapping over eahc other wrapped around the central neck of it, the chain is usually used to keep it at Fensake's hand. The liquid within is sake, and is seemingly limitless
-Bankai: The Bankai Form of his Fenikkusu Yuugao is rather simplistic. The gourd simply grows larger, strapping itself across Fensake's back by criss-crossing double thick chains that were seen in the form of his shikai. The gourd has no cork, and the dimension or relative to the size it had as shikai. Multiple them all by 4 to get an idea of the size. There is a tap that runs along the chain at his chest and into the gourd that leads to a tube that conects to a small face mask strapped against the chain. Fensake can drink sake from that for whatevr use he may see fit.
Spirit Description: The spirit of Fensake's Zanpakutou is that of a wizened old man with wings and a nose that so closely resembles a beak that it's been mistaken for one in his first meetings with him. The wings are large and have an orange and yellow coloring. the man wears a over-sized set of robes that drape around him.
Attacks:
Shikai -
Sake Fountain: This is simply the sake formed in the gourd poring out from it without having to be drawn out by somebodies mouth.
Sake Manipulation: The ability for the holder of the gourd to manipulate the sake in any way he would like as long as it retains it's liquid form. He cannot persay freeze it, or have it freeze and manipulate it, nor can it turn into a gas state and be controlled.
Blade of Kūsu - From the opening of the gourd the hilt of a sword will form, the user will pull the sheath from the gourd which will pull out a blade surrounded by a liquid fire. the blade itself is a stright katana. the liquid flame will drip from the blade constantly.
Bankai:
All shikai level attacks have been carried over, however are more powerful marked by the beginning name of Grand. The blade of Kusu is also that of nandao, a thin blade though broad.
Sake Rain: As he fights the drops of sake that spill from his gourd will begin to gather in the sky above. forming within the clouds and changing them into clouds of sake. at ten posts from the beginning of his bankai release the sake will begin to fall to the ground as rain. It will happen every ten posts without his help being involved and is simply a by-product of his release.
Sake Rain Shower: He can drink from the tap of his gourd and then expel it into the air in a large stream that will fill the clouds that are made from his sake rain technique. It will allow the shaving of 3 posts from the overall total needed, though only usable once every 7 posts.
Passive Abilities:
Sake that has passed through Fensake's mouth yet has not been lit aflame by him as well can be...well...spat...onto a wound to disinfect as well as stop any bleeding. It does not close the wound however no more blood-loss will occur because of it. It raises blood alchohol level as a side-effect which will require some practice to not be hindered by.
The sake is flammable.
Look: The Shape of the Seki daggers is a rouch leaf shape, push dagger-ish, but much shorter with the handle almost appearing as part of the blade, though with a blunted edge for hand safety(the edges ARE still sharp)
Fensake carries a pack of these on him that is able to hold about 8 of the daggers. It is strapped underneath his gloved fore-arms.
Summary:
The Kunai are an engineered Seki Replica. They are far from a potent replica but in numbers can dispell strong reaitsu attacks and signatures by cutting a chunk from the targets own energy upon hitting.
1) 1 Kunai can minus 10 Reitasu points of the total stats of whomever was hit by the Daggers. This lasts for roughly 4 posts from time of last dagger making contact. Meaning if he hit with 1 dagger it would minus 15, wait three posts and hit with a 2nd dagger they would be down 30 total for the next 4 posts. as long as these daggers hit within the 4 posts they will continue to stack until 4 posts after the last dagger when the targets rei will come back entirely.
2) 1 Kunai - Stops Reaitsu attacks 20 higher then his own Reaitsu
Each Consecutive Kunai afterwards adds another 10 rei to the level difference they can black meaning 2 blocks up to 30, 3 blocks up to 40, etc, etc.
3) Cero at any strength requires 5 kunai and must be within the 5 kunai range to be stopped meaning they have to be within 60 Reaitsu of himself. Even if the opponent is weaker then Fensake it would still require 5 Seki daggers to halt the large attack of Cero.(does not work on Royal Cero)
4) Does not effect Reishi based kidou , examples being Quintet of Iron Pillars.
5) If person is hit with kidou that have two or more parts, or attacks that have two or more parts they must use 1 kunai for each individual part. Ex: a Six Rods of Prison Light would require 6 kunai, 1 for each plank, and the difference range could not exceed 70 Reaitsu above him.
His blade flashed, expanded, and in his hand rested a gourd, uncorked, and with the sake dripping from it. Fensake did not know how to work this blade yet, but his spirit was one with him. so he knew how to become the sake, and in that way to control it with his own spirit. The foe stared on confused, and by the time he had decided to run it was to late. Fensake's sake had lashed around one leg, and with an utterence of shakkahou the man was set aflame, engulfing, all-burning, purifying flames of the Phoenix Gourd.
It would be days later when the Onigami wars began, he fought and took the lives of any he fought, surviving through the cast aside care his rank and name were given. Suicide mission after suicide mission he survived. Knowledge of how is unknown, though it is know his massive injuries should have bled out any other man.
For 5 years Fensake spent any waking moment, not already being spent for mission or personal training, communicated with his blade. Practicing the use of the sake as both a weapon and simply a guard. Learning unique and new ways of setting his sake aflame for better use in battle against either a worthy, or merely bothersome foe. His work paid of slowly, he could hear it better, could wield it more easily, could fight on par with it in his hand, as well as without. For as each training day started he found he could see his performance increase with every blow, gaining power not only from the abilities, but from the dedicated work he put into his task every day.
It was 5 long years, routine after routine connecting him and his blade together, until it had finally mastered it’s physical form. He called it forth from it’s slumber, and as per it’s rules chased it. For as a bird they could not simply fight as one might another humanoid. Fensake was tasked to chase his bird until it was caught. No easy feat when it could know what you were going to do based on the soul-deep connection that was shared. He dashed across the Seireitei, using shunpo every so often, but for the most part dashing on foot. Several squadmates took notice and likewise gave chase. And at this an Idea formed in his head.
His spirit had never set a rule against asking for help, he nodded and his squadmates took the unspoken signal. Barriers erected in moments upon the utterance of the kidou and the bird flared it’s wings to halt itself. Fensake tackled it to the ground landing in a roll to protect his spirit from being crushed. His bankai was all his to be had…unfortunately within the Seireitei’s walls that having was disallowed to any and all who might hold such an ability unless in a time of war.
For ten years he trained, unable to wield his bankai, but always in communication with his zanpakutou spirit
Name: Fenikkusu Yuugao
Description:
-Sealed: The sealed form of his zanpakutou is that of a short Kubikiri Tanto, a symbol worn by assistants to remove the head of slain enemies as a trophy, or also speculatiely beleived to be worn by doctors or high-ranking officials. the edge of the blade is on the backwards curve instead of one the forward edge. There is no point at the end of the blade and it is simply rounded off meaning it cannot stab. the gaurd is a simple square with what are easily described as scalpel blades on each side. these are actually able to br broken away from the guard, and will be replaced when the user reverts from any released state.
-Shikai: The shikai of his blade is actually quite comical. It will grow wider at both ends before burning with undamaging reaitsu fire that will leave in the users hand a gourd measuring a foot tall. The bottom of the gourd is about a half-foot in daimeter at it's widest point, the top is only at 4 diameters. It has a chain that resmbles a series of fetahers overlapping over eahc other wrapped around the central neck of it, the chain is usually used to keep it at Fensake's hand. The liquid within is sake, and is seemingly limitless
-Bankai: The Bankai Form of his Fenikkusu Yuugao is rather simplistic. The gourd simply grows larger, strapping itself across Fensake's back by criss-crossing double thick chains that were seen in the form of his shikai. The gourd has no cork, and the dimension or relative to the size it had as shikai. Multiple them all by 4 to get an idea of the size. There is a tap that runs along the chain at his chest and into the gourd that leads to a tube that conects to a small face mask strapped against the chain. Fensake can drink sake from that for whatevr use he may see fit.
Spirit Description: The spirit of Fensake's Zanpakutou is that of a wizened old man with wings and a nose that so closely resembles a beak that it's been mistaken for one in his first meetings with him. The wings are large and have an orange and yellow coloring. the man wears a over-sized set of robes that drape around him.
Attacks:
Shikai -
Sake Fountain: This is simply the sake formed in the gourd poring out from it without having to be drawn out by somebodies mouth.
Sake Manipulation: The ability for the holder of the gourd to manipulate the sake in any way he would like as long as it retains it's liquid form. He cannot persay freeze it, or have it freeze and manipulate it, nor can it turn into a gas state and be controlled.
Blade of Kūsu - From the opening of the gourd the hilt of a sword will form, the user will pull the sheath from the gourd which will pull out a blade surrounded by a liquid fire. the blade itself is a stright katana. the liquid flame will drip from the blade constantly.
Bankai:
All shikai level attacks have been carried over, however are more powerful marked by the beginning name of Grand. The blade of Kusu is also that of nandao, a thin blade though broad.
Sake Rain: As he fights the drops of sake that spill from his gourd will begin to gather in the sky above. forming within the clouds and changing them into clouds of sake. at ten posts from the beginning of his bankai release the sake will begin to fall to the ground as rain. It will happen every ten posts without his help being involved and is simply a by-product of his release.
Sake Rain Shower: He can drink from the tap of his gourd and then expel it into the air in a large stream that will fill the clouds that are made from his sake rain technique. It will allow the shaving of 3 posts from the overall total needed, though only usable once every 7 posts.
Passive Abilities:
Sake that has passed through Fensake's mouth yet has not been lit aflame by him as well can be...well...spat...onto a wound to disinfect as well as stop any bleeding. It does not close the wound however no more blood-loss will occur because of it. It raises blood alchohol level as a side-effect which will require some practice to not be hindered by.
The sake is flammable.
Summary:
The Kunai are an engineered Seki Replica. They are far from a potent replica but in numbers can dispell strong reaitsu attacks and signatures by cutting a chunk from the targets own energy upon hitting.
1) 1 Kunai can minus 10 Reitasu points of the total stats of whomever was hit by the Daggers. This lasts for roughly 4 posts from time of last dagger making contact. Meaning if he hit with 1 dagger it would minus 15, wait three posts and hit with a 2nd dagger they would be down 30 total for the next 4 posts. as long as these daggers hit within the 4 posts they will continue to stack until 4 posts after the last dagger when the targets rei will come back entirely.
2) 1 Kunai - Stops Reaitsu attacks 20 higher then his own Reaitsu
Each Consecutive Kunai afterwards adds another 10 rei to the level difference they can black meaning 2 blocks up to 30, 3 blocks up to 40, etc, etc.
3) Cero at any strength requires 5 kunai and must be within the 5 kunai range to be stopped meaning they have to be within 60 Reaitsu of himself. Even if the opponent is weaker then Fensake it would still require 5 Seki daggers to halt the large attack of Cero.(does not work on Royal Cero)
4) Does not effect Reishi based kidou , examples being Quintet of Iron Pillars.
5) If person is hit with kidou that have two or more parts, or attacks that have two or more parts they must use 1 kunai for each individual part. Ex: a Six Rods of Prison Light would require 6 kunai, 1 for each plank, and the difference range could not exceed 70 Reaitsu above him.
