Vincent Highwind was born to the Noble House of the Highwind's. The House of the Highwind's was a distinguished house. Making its members a conservative clan that kept to itself. The Highwind's did not give too much care to Soul Society until Vincent went to the Academy. At that time Vincent was one of the last members of the dieing clan. Soon after Vincent was sent to be part of the Gotei 13 the clan fell apart leaving Vincent as the last of the clan.
Vincent didnt have the experience like most of the spirits at the Academy. Being born into Soul Society was different then being out in the real world then being sent here by a Shinigami. When he was a kid he was shunned because of his habitat of actually having to eat. His clan did not know what to do with him, but they still kept him in their family not sending him off on his own. His parents began noticing a change in the activities he participated as a child. He then later on asked to be sent to the Shinigami Academy.
He was one of the only members of this clan to make it into the Academy. During his years in the Academy he was known to sit in class leaving all of the participation to the other students. When faced with the exams of the Kido he had the natural ability to be able to control it. Another one of his excelled skills was with his weapon. Through the Academy Vincent passed most of the Pillars of teaching but had a problem with one. He never got a hold of Hand-To-Hand combat. Going through the class was no problem for him but when it came down to the exam he was unable to perform as well as he did in the other 3 pillars of Kido, Weapon, and Footwork.
On his first mission out to the real world to see how he would handle a hollow he was sent as a leader of a group of four. Though the people that he was sent with really didnt like the fact that their leader was a silent student during class. Vincent had stopped the group so they could take a rest and save up there energy for the fight that is up ahead. Jumping up onto one of the branches of a tree near-by to overlook his group and to see if anything was coming. Then a reiatsu that at first seem to make him want to fall of the branch. Turning around Vincent saw a hollow the size of a four story building walking in the direction of him and his team.
Jumping down from the branch he rushed down to his team telling them to get ready for the fight they were waiting for. His team looked at him like he was crazy. He than began asking them if they felt the reiatsu. Seeing the look on their faces said that they did not. For a little while Vincent started to feel like he was the weakest one in the group because of the way he felt the reiatsu. Opon thinking this the others fell to their knees. A look of worry fell on their face. They then looked up at Vincent with a look of concern and of apology. Seeing that his team needed him at this moment he turned to the hollow and drew his sword.
Vincent made his way to the hollow. He put his guard up waiting for the first attack from the monster. No sooner from when when his guard went up the hollow attack. Vincent stood still. The members of his team saw that he did not move from where he was standing. They then saw nothing but smoke. It has seemed that the hollow got Vincent. When the dust cleared away the team and the hollow noticed that there was no one where Vincent was. "Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on to the south," was heard above them. When they looked Vincent was using Shakkahô. They didnt even notice Vincent escape the attack or even sense his reiatsu had moved.
The shot got the hollow in the face. Seeing what Vincent was doing the other team members drew their swords as well and joined in the fight. The hollow was then dispatched soon after. The team turned towards Vincent congratulating him on his victory over the hollow. Vincent walked up to the team, he pulled out his pack from by the tree and began taking out food. "We will be heading back to Soul Society soon," he said. They looked at him with a strange look on their face. "Why arent you going to celebrate," they asked him. He continued to hand out the food that he had saved up for this return trip back. He answered, "Because though we defeated one, we still have more to defeat. To help save the lives of the ones that are still living." After his answer the rest of the journey was quiet. They knew Vincent was right. When all of the teams got back from their missions, some of the students were promoted to continue to improve themselves by going on to the Gotei 13. Vincent was chosen to go.
He started in the Fifth Division of the Gotei. At first he was seen as the sort of slave to all of the other members. They came up with the idea that since he is new, he was placed on all of the duties given to the squad from the Captain-Commander. All of them thought that it was odd for him to accept the duties without hesitation; it was hard for them to comprehend how he was able to do the chores that they assigned to him were done to an excelled standard. The higher seats of the Division saw the hard work that Vincent was doing; which began his ascension to a higher seat.
Vincent made his way up to the third seat slot. Some of the lower ranking Shinigami didn’t like how Vincent passed them. He heard them talk about him behind his back, but that didn’t stop him from showing his strength.
With the recent events of Aizen, Vincent stepped up and began his way towards the Captain seat. He was seen often making his way to the third division’s stadium to practice. No one really knew what was happening, but sometimes he let out to much reiatsu (which brought the attention of the Convert Ops).
Then one day he stepped up to one of the other division’s captain and asked if he could take the Captain Proficiency Test. The captain laughed and said that he would. A couple of days later the Commander-General asked to see the 3rd Seat officer that wanted to be a Captain. Vincent stepped up to the Commander-General saying that he was the one will to take the place of the previous captain.
The Commander-General and the Captains made their way to the stadium to see what this young 3rd seat officer could do and see if he could pass. They had Vincent stand in the middle of the stadium with then the Commander-General telling him to show them his Bankai. Vincent took out his sword and began his process. He let pulled in as much of his reiatsu that he could. He then said the word the other captains also wanted to hear. “Bankai,” there was then released a large scale reiatsu that shook Soul Society. Lots of the Death Gods feeling the reiatsu that was released went to the source and saw Vincent has released his Bankai. They looked in awe at the massive summon that was Vincent’s Bankai. Seeing what Vincent could do the Captains approved of his asking to be captain. The Commander-General then stated that Vincent would be the new 7th division Captain. Vincent asked the Commander-General why he was moved and he said that there was reason for the switch but did not tell Vincent the meaning of it.

Shakahou - When Vincent fuses his Zanpakutô with Shakahou at the point of the blade forms a Red Fireball. At the end of his swing the fireball is released from the point to be fired like it just came from someone's hands.
Byakurai - Shoots a bolt of lightning from his slash.
Tsuzuri Raiden - Mixes a lightning elemental to his sword.
Haien - Completely covers the blade with fire. When the blade touches anything while fused with Haien, it severely burns the region in which it tpuchs.
Passive Abilities: Vincent is able to fuse certain Hadō in with the Shikai form of his Zanpakutō.Later in his Zanpakutō's Bankai form the Zanpakutō itself can use the same Hadō as Vincent did in its Shikai form.
