Kai wears the clothes shown in the image, despite the fact that he's a shinigami. His eyes are actually purple and his hair is sky blue. His sword is located on his left hip, strapped tightly. He's surprisingly light, weighing only about 170 pounds and standing at 5'9.
Reiatsu Color: Dark Green
Personality: Kai, in simple terms, loves fighting. Originally, he was part of the 11th division but because he kept his cool during the fights, he was transferred. On the rare occasion he does get angry or loses himself to his inner love for battle, he is a truly vicious fighter. Kai dislikes being a high standing member of any group, but he can handle it if he has to. He prefers to follow rather than lead. History: Kai was born in the human world to Traq and Illenia Raikou, but because of a tragic incident when he turned 19, he died young. Before his death and movement to Soul Society, Kai was one of the kids often picked on and bullied at school. He also got into a lot of fights because of it, because instead of evading the bullying, he welcomed it. At about the age of 10, he noticed that he could feel things around him, even seeing a ghost once. His spiritual sense grew as he became older, enough for him to catch glances of the black-robed people who came to the Human World every now and then. His father, a retired marine, who had seen better days, drilled him with military tactics and discipline as much as he could, teaching him things such as always protecting your teammates, watching the enemies movements, honor on the battlefield. His mother, on the other hand, tried to teach him manners and respect to all, which is one of the reasons he was picked on so much. Kai, unsure which parents teaching to follow, mixed them both together and used elements of both in his dealings with people.
By age 15, he had more friends than he thought he would ever get, and because of them, he often got into more fights protecting them from bullies as well. He joined a karate class and was close to becoming a black belt(for self defense, his parents thought it was needed for the world they lived in). He wasn't the smartest kid in his classes, but he was above average. At age 17, he faced the experience which would have a severe impact on the rest of his life. Walking home one day, he spotted one of the black robed people who had seen before. Chasing after the person, he ran into what looked like a hazy cloud. The cloud, however, was moving and it easily shattered the side of a building. The black robed person was knocked back from the force and the crumbling rubble was going to fall right on them. It must have been the teaching of his parents in him that caused him to react, and he grabbed the person and pulled them out of the way, barely avoiding the rubble himself. Grabbing a pole that had been knocked down by the cloud, Kai threw it at the cloud in an attempt to drive the thing off. Even though it did nothing more than anger whatever the cloud was, it distracted it long enough for robed person to injure it. The cloud, angry that it was hurt, lunged toward Kai, for what reason Kai is still unsure. Calling upon every-once of his sight he could, he manged to see the creature for just a second, long enough to move in the correct direction from it, his karate skills coming in handy because they had increased his reflexes. The robed person struck again, this time finishing the creature off. As they both stood there, Kai's shoulder injured from getting the man out of the way, he asked who that person was. Smiling, the man said one word - "Shinigami", before vanishing into thin air. Kai knew that Shinigami meant Death God, but aside from that, he knew nothing. Deciding the keep this a secret, he blamed the injury on getting jumped.
Two years later, tragedy struck. Apparently attracted by the fact that he had high spiritual power, another one of those creatures attacked his home, killing his mother and father before moving onto him. Despite his best efforts, Kai was soon face down on the ground, bleeding from many wounds. Refusing to die, he managed to get back to his feet, grinning. Picking up a broken piece of wood, he tried one last time to attack the creature, only to see it die before him, like the one he had seen before. Caving to his knees, he saw the same robed person he had seen two years ago, who looked at him with a frown. Kai knew what it meant, he wasn't dumb. His left arm was gone, he had many broken bones and his blood was painting the road red. He was going to die. Laughing, Kai fell back, chuckling even in the face of death itself. Before his vision went, he saw the man standing above him, his sword coming down, probably to put him out of his misery. But that could be far from the truth.
Everything turned to light and when it vanished, he was in a strange place. It looked like an old rundown country town. Wandering around and asking questions, he learned that he was in the afterlife, in a place called Rukongai, the 117th district. His mother and father were there as well, but seemed to be just fine. Apparently, the lower the number, the worst the conditions in the area were. It didn't matter though, as soon after his arrival, a group of the black robed people came and found him, telling him to come with them. Looking at his parents, who smiled and waved to him, he turned and left one odd place for another. He then entered Seiretei, the home of the Shinigami. He was told he had been suggested for the duty of being a shinigami by someone and was sent to a training camp for new shinigami. Like in the human world, he was picked on here as well, but he quickly made friends and even started to excel in some areas. Fights seemed to hunt him down, as he was often challenged because of how well he was doing, or cause he made someone else look bad. His best class was in combat, even besting some of the instructors in some cases. One day, a captain from the Gotei 13, the top shinigami squads, came to observe a battle between Kai and another of his classmates, Rixo. During the fight, Rixo used a dirty trick to try and gain the upper hand. Just when it looked like he would lose, Kai heard a voice. He couldn't figure out where the voice came from, but it guided him to get past Rixo's dirty tactics and win the bout, defeating Rixo with a blow to the back. He used a staff instead of a sword, for he felt a staff was less likely to badly injure someone, but could still cripple and defeat them. Everyone, including the captain, applauded the performance. The captain then approached him and asked if he would like to join into one of the main Shinigami squads, probably the 11th based on how he fought. Grinning, Kai welcomed the challenge.
For a couple of years, he trained and fought with the men of the 11th division. During his first year, Kai had learned about the Shikai and Bankai of all Shinigami weapons, their Zanpaktou. During a routine trip to the Human World, a pack of Hollows attacked, beating down the two members that he had gone with. Once again, he reached as far as he could go to help him win and that's when the voice arose again. It told him that it was his sword and that by calling its name, he could win. Learning the name, Kai released his sword, which was named Chikusou, which means spear. Using it, he defeated the Hollows with ease, following the advice of his sword. Upon returning to Soul Society, he told them that he had used his Shikai and won. For the next year, he trained using his Shikai, choosing to use if over the normal sword mode. Because of his sword's power and how he used it, some people eventually began calling him Storm Kai, as that's the way he appeared in battle. After some time had passed, he asked to move to another division, to help with the lack of Vice-Captains, even though he didn't like roles with influence. Looking at the squads without one, he decided to go to the 13th Division and thus, continue his training. Even though its said that to use Bankai, one must train for 100 years, Kai has suggested he may be close to being able to use it.

Free Skill - Shikai Mastery
Name: Chikusou (Bamboo Spear)
Description:
-Sealed: Kai's Zanpakutou's normal form, although not used much, is a pretty basic sword, expect for the fact that it is a Sakabato, or reverse-blade sword. The hilt is white, with a dark green sheath. Rarely is the sword form used, as Kai tends to release it as he draws it, which consumes the sheath as well.
-Shikai: Rage(Kyoubou), Chikusou - As he draws the sword, he calls out the release, which combines his sword and his sheath into a long staff weapon. The staff is about 4 feet long and made of a mix of steel and bamboo, which gives it some flexibility while being hard to break. On the end of the staff is a short spear tip which is shaped like a butcher knife. The staff is normally white and depending on what element is being used, corresponding images and colors appear on the staff. While water has blue waves along the staff's length, wind has green streaks.
-Bankai: Ooarashi Chikusou(Raging Storm Spear) - Multiple copies of Chikusou appear, each one either wind or water. The water ones are mainly defensive in nature, while the wind ones are offensive. Although they can change their roles at any given time. His body is covered in an odd armor, which covers his right arm with a gauntlet, while his left arm is covered in a larger armor up the the shoulder. A unique headpiece forms as well and his reiatsu spreads from his back like a cloth, connecting to the staffs. The lines connecting to the staffs are nearly invisible, save to those with extremely high senses.
Spirit Description:
Chikusou is quite the odd one, as he enjoys battle just as much as his owner. Although he dislikes the fact that Kai doesn't use him while he's in his non-released state, he doesn't mind being used as the staff. He constantly urges Kai to fight more and disagrees with the fact that Kai doesn't like positions of leadership, as those positions often come with more power. Despite how much they argue, they work well together, as Chikusou often provides help by assisting Kai with his movements and training.
Attacks: Tsujikaze(Whirlwind) - An offensive technique, although it normally doesn't appear as one. Kai swings his staff in completely random directions around him, using it so that it covers the immediate area around his body. At initial glance, this looks like a defensive move, as Kai changes the swings whenever an attack is coming, deflecting the attack to the side or blocking it. However, the move is actually based on offensive. Using the random swings and unpredictability of the move, Kai can attack from any angle, as well as protecting himself from further attacks while doing so. However, there is a timing to it, so if one is fast enough and has good analytical skills, they can probably find an opening and strike back. This is often how Kai determines what kind of style to use against the enemy, as well as determining if they are worthy of his full power.
Gatosu - A powerful thrust with explosive power. Gripping the end of the staff with his right hand, he brings up the other end and places his left hand against the side. Focusing his reiatsu at the tip, he lunges at the opponent, then as he gets within range, he lashes the staff out, aiming the blade for his opponent. Whether it hits or not does not matter, for when he hits a certain point, he releases the reiatsu he stored up, firing it off in a straight line at where the staff is aiming. It can either be fired for range or held so that when it hits, it explodes, inflicting further damage.
Kai's Zanpakuto has two stages, water and wind. Through use of a verbal command, Kai can change between them with ease. Water is mainly defensive by nature, and wind is offensive by nature. Both can be used for the other role and have several different attacks.
Suiton(Water): Water is counter based moves. Water bursts from both ends of the staff, allowing Kai to create waves of water from it. When an opponent takes a swing at him, he can use these waves to slid their attack off target, or reduce the strength behind the attack, which then allows him to move into a counter move. The waves can knock a person back quite a bit if they are caught off guard. Water's unique move is Tidal Billows, which is a powerful surge of water, which is used as a counter, slamming the powerful current straight into an enemies mid-section. It then sends them upwards, open for more attacks.
Tidal Wave - Kai creates a massive surge of water which launches itself at the enemy. When the enemy is within reach, or at Kai's urging, the wave comes down with crushing force. The attack blocks Kai's view of the enemy when it comes down, so if they evade, he doesn't know until the wave fully hits, as he won't be able to feel the enemies presence within the water.
Rising Water - A defensive move, where Kai brings up a wall of water in front of him to reduce the force of an enemies attack, or send it off course. Strong kido based attacks can break through with ease, although Kai relies on his reflexes for that.
Futon(Wind): Verbal command; Ichijou(Streak) - Wind is meant for speed. While using this mode, Kai's attacks come slightly faster and a veil of wind shrouds his staff. The wind makes sharp cuts to those who get too close to the staff, usually within grabbing range. He can also send powerful gusts of wind at his enemy, trying to knock them off balance. Wind's unique attack is Storm Vortex, which Kai creates by moving around his enemy as fast as he can, using the wind to create a vortex which strikes at his enemy from all sides with sharp wind strikes and blasts of wind.
Vice Slit - A slash of sharp air, created by Kai swinging his staff at a high speed, then swinging it towards his enemy. He can send slashes at any angle, horizontal, vertical or diagonal. Kai can also send several Vice Slit's at once, by swinging his staff several times around when launching the attacks.
Wind Armor - A defensive attack, where Kai surrounds himself with air currents that make attacks slid off course, like attacking thin air. Whenever an attack is sent, a blast of air burst out to deflect the attack, sending it away from Kai. However, powerful force attacks can break straight through, as the wind cannot send enough force to send that attack of course.
While in Bankai, Kai has multiple copies of Chikusou hovering around him. He can hold one of the staffs himself for his own use, while the others are controlled via the reiatsu lines connected to his back. The staffs he does not hold hover around him and he can use them for offense or defense. The offensive ones strike at the enemy with their elements, controlled by Kai's left hand. The defensive ones block incoming attacks and leave the enemy open to counter attack from the other staffs.
Storm Hurricane - A swirling blast of reiatsu, similar to a cero, but at the moment, not as strong as a full power one. The multiple staffs circle around Kai for a moment, and they send reiatsu to his left arm, which slowly charges. During this time, the staffs move to attack the enemy again, trying to seal the enemy into place or making him unable to dodge in time. If they succeed, it makes it easier, although not having it succeed does not hinder the move. The reiatsu, once it has reached its peak, is fired off in a cero-fashion at the enemy, which then smashes into them with considerable force. Because of the time it takes, Kai prefers to use it when he knows he can hit, or come close.
Halo Typhoon - A combination of both the water and wind, Kai mixes the two elements together to create a powerful uprising, which captures the enemy within it. Once they are in it, Kai can strike with wind or water from any angle. The enemy can break free, but they either have to be strong enough to break a gap to go through, or brave enough to face the raging wall of wind and water to pass through to the other side.
Storm Star Blitzstorm - Kai's final attack. Using his reiatsu, a lot of it, he creates clones of himself, one for each staff. Each one then proceeds to strike the enemy, then they all smash into the enemy, while Kai brings his staff down(whichever one he choose) upon the opponent with as much force and reiatsu as he can muster. Although its risky as it drains his reiatsu considerably, often shattering his Bankai right after, it is guaranteed to do severe damage if it hits. As such, Kai will use only as a last resort and when he feels he can connect with it.
